1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
One of the first pale lagers to appear in the Netherlands already in the late 19th century, decades before the style seeped through in Belgium; since long owned by Heineken. Deep golden blonde lager, almost ’old gold’ in colour, with a thin and unstable head. Very weak profile, rather watery with sweetish corn, soft carbo and very mild herbal hop bitterness in the finish. In all: correctly made, but utterly boring, like most standard pale lagers.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Clear golden with a fairy quickly dissipating white foam with no lacings. Aroma is light grain, pale malt and some grass. Taste is about the same, hint of slight almond in between. Finishes lightly bitter albeit very wattery. Light body, medium carbo. A bit weak but works in 35 degree celcius on a Rhodes beach.

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
No body, watery taste with sweetish hints, and usually not enough carbonation where I drink it. Hops not detactable at all, finish is too sweet. Even worse than Heineken.

Tap at Lindos View Hotel, Rhodes. Clear yellow golden colour, white foam head and aroma of malt & grain. Sweet malty taste, with grain & light grassy bitterness. Watery mouthfeel, light body, high carbonation, residual sweetness in the finish. A bland lager for drinking cold.
