Bottled. Let’s face it, pale lager is never going to knock your socks off with aroma and taste. But having revisited half a dozen of them courtesy of a gift pack bought by my wife on the way back from Switzerland, this shines a little brighter than the rest. Lovely pale gold body, hint of malt in the nose
(and possiibly grass, maeib, but then I’m rating this in the garden having mowed the lawn only a couple of hours ago), gentle hopped finish, I have fond memories of this on draught in Amsterdam in a bar near our hotel right on the outskirts of the city (Dick’s? Rick’s? It catered for non-discerning Brits by selling pints) where I can vaguely remember it tasting maltier. Still, a couple of notches higher than most of the usual Euro-pap lager.

Draught. What a suprise. A common lager beer with hops. The aroma is typical with grass and malt notes, and the appearance is boring golden, but the taste is a revelation. There are some real smooth hop notes in there. Almost a revelation!

Ligth golden bode with average head. Aroma and flavor is both a bit sweet. Very watery thin lager. Really not much to say, spend a bit more money and get some good beer.

Man this beer is pretty poor. Pours a gold color. Flavor and aroma is sweet and grainy. Lager at its worst. Metallic and poor. Bad beer.

Light skunky hoppy aroma, with some grain sweetness. Golden clear with frothy white lacing head. Light-medium body with low-medium carbonation. Standard lager profile, bit skunky, hops, grain. Weak bitter finish and after.

I had a bottle of Amstel today that was brewed under license in Burundi. There are no native Burundian beers as far as I could find. Pale yellow, grassy aroma, fizzy body, metallic aftertaste. No surprise there.
