Can. Golden body, disappearing head. Thin malty aroma. Sweet malty taste with a very mild hoppy finish. Better than Heineken because you can actually taste some hops in this one. Clean and simple taste with no faults. One of the better macro lagers out there.

Keg at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) 4.1%. A clear golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of sweet grain, maize and slight mineral. Taste is similar of grain, some maize, slight mineral and subtle grass. Light bodied but a watery texture. A sweet, grainy finish with slight minerally aftertaste. Quite a sweet lager but with a unappealing mineral aftertaste. Also watery now the draft strength has been reduced.

Brazilian version, 4.6%, sweet after taste. Pleasant colour. Perfect for a tropical climate due to its reduced alcohol percentage.

Had this in a .3l glass from draft in Amsterdam. It’s a beer which, like Heineken, tastes a little watery.

Keg at the Dobblers Arms, Cambridge. Two dead gnats in the head actually add to the life of this boring beer. Light gold, cute little bubbles floating upwards. Smells of zero, maybe I have a cold, but I think that this actually has no smell. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Taste is... ok. Sweet/bitter, noncommittal. Comes from the Budweiser school of ’alcohol flavoured water’. Decent palette, the carbonation helps. Don’t bother.

This beer is definitely not bad, but it’s rather watery and lacks any distinct taste.

This is a decent BBQ lager. Very satisfying shape of bottle. 1 extra point for that. Tastes fine.

Drank numerous times (bottle, draft). When served properly, Amstel is a nice, appealling pale lager. In terms of taste and aroma however, it falls very short. Grainy, overly sweetish and mildly bitter. Watery and heavily carbonated... Great thirst-quencher when served cold. Solid pilsener in general, but nothing more.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with a nice white frothy head. Mild aroma, a bit grainy and some paper notes. Taste is slightly sweet, light body, not really watery. Some bitterness in the finish. Drinkable when chilled, nothing spectacular but not unpleasant.

Can at home as Amstel Pilsener. Clear light golden with a bit fizzy white head. Light sweet grains, some light raw vegetables, corn, bit of honey and light grassy bitterness. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Inoffensive lager.
