3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rauchbier (3198) - Isle Of Beer, - AUG 25, 2002
Bottle. This is the british brewed version and its puzzling me. Poured it into the glass and head fell off so quick that I swear I heard it hit the bottom of the glass. First aroma was nicely hoppy. First taste was hoppy and nutty, finish was hoppy and quite long. Who brewed this? did they misread the recipe? Have they bottled the wrong stuff? For all the world this tasted like I would expect a run of the mill english pale ale to taste. I even had a second bottle to make sure. Exactly the same.

0,5l can. Do I really feel very faint hops in it? Or my mind is playing tricks with me?
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2012
May 2009: Brown 330ml bottle, 4.1% ABV. drank during a 5 lager/pilsner tasting on a hot and sunny afternoon in my back garden. This beer came second to last, beating only a cheap Greek can of Hellas Pils.
Typical pale Euro lager look, light golden body with a fast departing white head.
Gets my standard 3 score for an odourless pils/lager. Nothing to report nose wise at all, not even grasses or metallic, nothing could I pick up.
The odourless theme was kind of carried on into the taste, it was tasteless as well as odourless. My bottle was part of a pack brewered for Heineken (UK) Ltd and had 7 months life left when broached. Why do they want to import sub-standard lagers into a country that is awash crap home brewed lagers already?
Watery and weak feeling to this beer, not impressed at all. I remember this beer before Amstel was taken over by Heineken, it has gone down hill since those days in the 1970’s.

Plutôt pas mal pour une bière commerciale. Assez agréable en bouche, avec quelques jolies notes de malt
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 vipinvelp (323) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - APR 7, 2012
Very pale clear yellow color, little white foam. Dissapearing quickly, low carbonated, not too bitter. A regular mass production beer.

Draught. Tastes like most other macro brewed pale lagers. Does a job for a lunchtime pint on a sunny day.

Another easy commercial lager. Not bad, not good either. It is quite sweet and, for such a commercial beer, quite yeasty too. No hops detected. The mouthfeel is actually not bad, it is not dry or carton-like or something. If we declare "comercial mass-produced lager" a seperate style, this one may score quite good, I think, but everyone who knows how real lager tastes should avoid Amstel just as much as all the other commercial lagers.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 MaartenRF10 (518) - Wageningen, NETHERLANDS - MAR 6, 2012
Clear dark golden, white head. Too dark for a lager. Soft taste, not very hoppy or malty, easy to drink. Some sweetness. Low carbo, dies fast.
