Clear golden, frothy white head, lasts a while, thin layer remains, nice lacing; rather sweet nose, straw, corn, hint of caramel, yeast; slightly sweet and mild bitter taste; medium body, oily texture, average carbonation; mild bittersweet finish

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2013 Various bottles over the years. Golden yellow. Slightly more interesting than the other watered down pale lagers produced in large volumes. Straw with medium head and carbonation. Not the best.

Awful beer in every respect. Strange sweetness, unappetizing smell and lack of hops as well as an unnatural dark-yellow color make this one of the worldís worst pilseners. The label is a reminder of the once classic Amstel two-tone one, now spoiled by some fake heraldry draped on top of it.

I used to seek this out once over. Canít imagine why now. Gold white head no aroma, beer like taste, watery palate. Only when desparate

1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Poorly executed flute glass from draft. Clear Golden yellow. Fast dissipating small white head. Typical wet dog smell and not much else. With some imagination there is some hop in there. Further just watery and off putting bitter. Thin flat watery mouthfeel. Overall.......meh. sessionable maybe, regrettable in the morning....for sure.

Fra fat i Marbella under navnet Amstel cerveza: var helt ok til paellaen (som var utmerket), men ut over det kun en standard, kjedelig industripils.

Medium straw yellow with a thin, lacy, lasting, white head. Smells of pale malt, soft hops, toasted bread, corn and dough. Medium to thin body with soft carbonation. Tastes of sweet pale malt, with a soft bitter finish. Grain, grass, corn, and yeast. Simple and cheap

500ml can. Every other bar in Holland has a sign for this over their door, so why not try it? It canít be worse than Canadian, can it? Looks pretty nice in the glass. Pale golden colour, with a good sized off white head. The nose is straw, cereal notes, mineral notes, and light yeast. A little more watery than most Euro-pilsners, with mild sweetness, straw, malt, light caramel, and just a bit of metallic bitterness in the finish. So overall, meh. Compared to Canadian? Sure, why not.
