First, the calorie listing on this beer is based on its abv, and doesn’t include the sugar added to the lemon juice. A can of this is more like 150 calories. But it is indeed as advertised, beer mixed with lemonade. Slightly tart lemon smell, very cloudy yellow under a fizzy soda pop head. Delivers a bit of malt, with lemon juice, but a bit much on the sugar (I’m presuming regular cane sugar, since one internet lookup listed that). A decent refresher on a hot day like this.

Bottle. Pours a clear blonde beer with a small white head. Aroma is full of artificial lemon. Flavor is carbonated lemon juice. Really, best avoid this mess.

12-oz. green American bottle (brown bottles for European sales). Amstel Radler has a thick, white, fizzy head, a hazy, milky, fiercely bubbly appearance, and very light lacing left behind. The aroma is strongly lemonade, with background malt, and the flavor is the same. Mouthfeel is medium, and Amstel Radler finishes tart and sweet and highly guzzable. RJT

Free can from O’Briens. Colour of lemon juice, hazy, no head. Smells of lemonade, no beer characteristics. Tastes like lemonade. No trace of any beer. If I wanted a lemonade is just have a lemonade.

Ya’ll are a bunch of haters! This is good stuff, as long as you don’t think about it as beer. Lemonade nose, super lemony flavor like adding sugar to fresh-squeezed lemon juice, absolutely no sign of beer anywhere to be found, probably cheaper than San Pellegrino. Sure’s way too sweet, but it’s also certainly better than the regular Amstel! And at 2% ABV you could drink a gallon for Sunday breakfast and the preacher man would be none the wiser.
