UPDATED: MAY 18, 2012 Re-reviewed (3rd review in total)! Still the same pour (Amber, good head). Citrus aroma - Grapefruit, Pine, some sweet malt to balance it out. Taste is all about the Grapefruit - Lovely and bitter, Caramel malt to balance it out. Resiny mouthfeel. This has gone from a 3.2 to a 3.3 to a 3.6 - Each release keeps getting better.

draught. Amber-orange pour, lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is lots of piney/citrus hops. Taste is all hops, slightly astringent, long bitter finish. Decent IPA, but could go for more balance. It was a little too one-dimensional for my tastes.

I tried this beer on March 24, 2011 in tap at "The Town Crier" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a hazy reddish-brown in the glass with a thin ecru coloured cap. The aroma was citrusy hops, pine, and malt. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grapefruity hops, and caramel. Very enjoyable beer.

Pour murky orange off white head great lace. Aroma citrus fruit, cellar muskiness, caramel, malt sweetness. Taste quite malt forward with a nice kick of hop, caramel, cereal, citrus, grapefruit and a slight soapiness. MF medium body fine prickly carb. Overall decent Canadian IPA quite bitter and decent balance.

On tap at the Only Cafe. Pours a slightly cloudy copper with moderate-sized off-white head. Caramel malt and citrus hop aroma. Taste is quite malty with a decent citric hopping. Moderate bitterness. Not bad but nothing to get too excited about.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2011 3rd annual Ontario Cask IPA Challenge tasted blind. Beautiful, burnished amber pour. The aroma is spicy and woody with a bit of black pepper. Woody and earthy with some light resinousness as well. A touch of sweet plummy fruit . Resinous and not at all citrusy, but itís fairly well made. First off - I have to give big props to the two women working at Amsterdam when I went in. I saw this beer on the board, but there was none in the cooler. I asked when it would be made next, since Iím a big fan of IPA but they didnít know. When I got to the front, one of them had run in back to get me one from her own stash. She didnít even charge me for it, so I was pretty happy about that as well. On to the beer - amber pour with a white head. The aroma is fairly hoppy. A mix of spice and orangey citrus with a fairly sweet and malty backbone. Lots of soft caramelly sweetness through the middle. It seems quite sweet and the hopping gets lost in the middle of that. Herbal and spicy as it warms up. Itís just not the kind of IPA I go for.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2012 500ml bottle sample purchased at the Amsterdam store. Pours a orange/ yellow colour, with a small white head, small amount of lacing. Aroma was hopy and sweet, a bit pine like. Taste was very much the same as aroma, a little bitter. Iím glad I can get local brews that taste like this, too bad itís seasonal (at least I think it is?).

Bottle pours an unfiltered hazy peach-gold that looks nice with a fine white head. Aroma is nice, sweet but a little citrus. Taste is very nicely-balanced bitter hop and sweet pale malt, very fruit-like interplay with lemons and grapefruits, a little white grape, wonderful crispness in hops. Nice effort from Amsterdamís pilot system, I take it.
