4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Canmoore (66) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 19, 2012
355 mL bottle from LCBO, pours a murky amber with incredible lacing. Strong aroma’s of pine, citrus, yeast, and caramel. Taste begins with a kick of piney hops, followed by some citrus notes, than a smooth malty finish. An excellent balanced brew. So far the best IPA I have had to date, this beer is fermented in the bottle so there is a layer of yeast on the bottom. I swirled the last bit of the beer and took it in..yum!!

Oh, but this is a pleasant surprise. While Amsterdam was the first brewpub that I ever visited (way back when...), their bottled beers have never really impressed me all that much.
Boneshaker however is absolutely great. A glowing orange beer with moderate carbonation, it gives off a lovely hoppy aroma with the bitterness counteracted by a hint of sweetness. It packs a "mild wallop" on first sip. A contradiction in terms perhaps, but the strong hoppy bitterness never overwhelms. It is beautifully balanced and doesn’t leave a bitter tang on the tongue.500ml bottle sample purchased at the Amsterdam store.
Ontarians have been blessed recently by a number of fine Pale Ales, and this one moves to the head of the list.

Boys, try the unfiltered, bottled version just released at the brewery, it is much better than your ratings below would indicate. it has a tangy, darker malt base with insistent, citrus rind hops coming through in the finish. a worthy IPA in an underserved market.

Amazing IPA on draft at Bar Volo.
Great balance and flavours with all the hop you expect in a great IPA.
Always a safe choice for a great IPA. Top 3 in Town.

Oct 16 2012. 355ml bottle pours hazy dark apricot almost brownish. No head just micro bubbles that make a thin ring. Leaves a great lacing even though there isn't any head. Aroma is indication that this is for hops lovers. Strong citrus and grassy hops on nose. Taste is a good blast of hops that dominates the biscuity malts that is just enough to bring a little balance. Malt is only noticed in the finish which isn't as bitter or long lasting as other hops "bombs". Crisp dry palate. This is not just the only good offering Amsterdam has it is fantastic!

Outstanding taste. Lots of character and aroma. Often difficult to find but well worth picking up!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 samzim (12) - - MAR 16, 2013
Aroma of fresh floral hops, pine, and lettuce. Cloudy amber colour with a minimal head. Medium body that begins with citrus and mild hops, then finishes with a strong bitter hoppy flavour of whole horseradish root. Great beer though a bit overly bitter towards the end.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 cfrancis (1764) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 24, 2012
Pours a dark amber with small floaties and a nice velvet beige head. Aroma is deep citrus and grapefruit. Taste is a sharp citrus and grapefruit hop bitterness that slightly dries the palate. Nicely off set with sweet malts. Great beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bunget (316) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 4, 2012
355ml bottle. Cloudy orange body, medium white head, nice amount of lacing. Aroma of spruce, caramel, grapefruit and flowers. Taste strongly bitter upfront, piney, caramel, wormwood. Kind of lite body for the style.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 pintbypint (1973) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 6, 2012
355ml brown bottle courtesy of wilco. 7.1% abv on label. Pours deep gold-orange, hazy. Full white head, thick lacing that coats the glass. Grapefruity nose with light pine and a bit of sweetness behind. Taste has a sweet malty base with some caramel, big grapefruit and pine hops, orange peel. Good bitterness, hoppy aftertaste featuring grapefruit, and orange zest. A trace of alcohol but nothing over the top. Medium body, carbonation is light to medium, nice smooth mouthfeel and very easy to drink. Had not heard of this brew before it arrived in a trade, I think it’s a bit of a sleeper, a bit underrated. Solid IPA, impressed that Amsterdam has started making craft beer. They should continue in this direction.
