One of the best beers I’ve ever had. Local to Toronto Ontario goes well with meat and intelligent discussions.

This unfiltered IPA has a beautiful citrus aroma and an amber colour. A very hoppy beer with a nice malt balance.

Can from the LCBO, poured into a shaker glass. Pours a deep cloudy orange, with a thin head that hangs around. Aromas of pine resin and bitter citrus peel, floral hints around the edges. Bitter and hoppy, with less alcohol presence than the 7.1%ABV would suggest. Very sessionable, but a bit too bitter for my tastes as an everyday drinker.

355 mL bottle from LCBO, pours a murky amber with incredible lacing. Strong aroma’s of pine, citrus, yeast, and caramel. Taste begins with a kick of piney hops, followed by some citrus notes, than a smooth malty finish. An excellent balanced brew. So far the best IPA I have had to date, this beer is fermented in the bottle so there is a layer of yeast on the bottom. I swirled the last bit of the beer and took it in..yum!!

Fantastic ipa. I’d never heard of it before and ordered it. Great looking bottle, poured surprisingly dark with hints of red. Continuously hopped apparently, wasn’t sure how it might stack up to 60/90 minute, but had its own distinct and smooth hoppiness. Would buy this all the time if it was available in Edmonton year round.

What a treat! Nice hops on the nose. Some excellent balance - has some oomph.

Pours dark burnt orange with a white head leaving medium amounts of lacing behind. On the nose, while there is definitely some citrus hops, especially from the tallboy can, there is a surprising amount of malt wafting up from the glass. Taste wise, this is very balanced. Some light citrus coming through in the hops, but caramel malts and the taste of tea on the finish for sure. This is a very nicely balanced IPA, although real hop heads might be looking for that balance to be a bit more skewed in that direction.

Tap, Office pub Toronto. Lovely amber beer, initially pine and spruce aromas but developing into a gorgeous dry jammy orange flavour which puts me in mind of mosaic hops. Up there with something that Kernel would produce.

Boys, try the unfiltered, bottled version just released at the brewery, it is much better than your ratings below would indicate. it has a tangy, darker malt base with insistent, citrus rind hops coming through in the finish. a worthy IPA in an underserved market.

Oh, but this is a pleasant surprise. While Amsterdam was the first brewpub that I ever visited (way back when...), their bottled beers have never really impressed me all that much. Boneshaker however is absolutely great. A glowing orange beer with moderate carbonation, it gives off a lovely hoppy aroma with the bitterness counteracted by a hint of sweetness. It packs a "mild wallop" on first sip. A contradiction in terms perhaps, but the strong hoppy bitterness never overwhelms. It is beautifully balanced and doesn’t leave a bitter tang on the tongue.500ml bottle sample purchased at the Amsterdam store. Ontarians have been blessed recently by a number of fine Pale Ales, and this one moves to the head of the list.
