COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Amsterdam Nut Brown. The object of desire, Amsterdam Downtown Brown is crisp yet subtle in character. A classic British-style brown ale brewed with a blend of Canadian and European malts (including chocolate malt from Belgium), this traditional deep chestnut coloured ale exudes a bold and attractive taste. Brewed with English Ale yeast and balanced by four varieties of continental hops, our Downtown Brown delivers an uncommon smoothness and distinct drinkability.

Dark brown, tan head. Sweet fruity and smokey flavours mix here to make a decent brew, nothing to fancy though. Smooth and quite drinkable. Draught.

Can from the LCBO. Deep clear mahogany with a one finger fluffy khaki head that fades slowly and laces well. Nose is light caramel, roasted nuts and chocolate. Light sweet toffee up front with light bitter chocolate, coffee and nut middle and a short finish. Mouth is a bit thin with average carbonation. Decent enough brown ale.

473ml can. Pours a clear, deep amber/caramel with a one finger, off white head that laces. Aroma has smooth roasted notes with a bit of caramel, dark fruits, and a hint of fruity esters. Taste is balanced. A blend of soft roasted malts, caramel, and a bit of coffee at the end. Low-medium body with a medium carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a bit of a dry finish. Overall an ok brown. A bit light on flavour.

Can from lcbo. Pours a dark amber with an off white head. Aroma has lemon, toffee, some dark fruit. Light body, medium to full carbonation. Caramel, lemon, wood, apple... Finishes with a metallic bitterness which lingers a bit. Not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0.473 l can, thanks Sampo! Dark reddish brown. Slightly roasty aroma with dark bread crust, toasted nuts, bitter chocolate and coffee. Taste of toasted bread, coffee, bitter chocolate and nuts. Fairly dry with some roasty acidity. Medium body. Tastes a bit lame but still fairly balanced and clean.

Can bought at the Amsterdam Brewery in Toronto. Overall it tastes like a good dark lager. Refreshing, a bit watery. Medium roasted malt, some dark chocolate. Good but nothing really special.

Can. Roasty and nutty aroma with faint fruity esters and some sour note. Dark chestnut appearance under a thin, tan sheet. Watery, nutty flavour that is pretty weak and finishes with dry roasted nut finish and no fruit or hops. Medium body, medium carbonation, nutty finish.
