3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at 2005 Golden Tap Awards at BeerBistro. Pours a clear dark ruby with a large diminishing frothy pink head. Pink head?! Thatís a first for me. Nice aroma of caramel malt and raspberries. Flavour is the same as the aroma but is a tad too sweet for me, but thatís a personal preference as this beer is very well made and enjoyable. Quite possibly the best beer Amsterdam makes.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught. Sampled at BeerBistro - 2005 GTA Golden Tap Awards. Nice! Poured a bright ruby-red with a huge foamy pink head - didnít make me think "mmmm - beer!" Aroma was back to childhood - exactly like still-warm homemade raspberry jam (somewhat tart, not too much sugar, made with very ripe fresh-picked berries) spread on oven-fresh bread - in other words tart, ripe berries and bready yeast - some alcohol in there too. Taste was as the aroma - starts juicy sweet and finishes tart - you donít doubt this is made with real berries/juice! Acidic and slightly sticky mouthfeel. Very nice, I must stop dissing Amsterdam (at least all of their beers, the Irish "Stout" still sucks)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught sample at TFOB 2005. Rich ruby colour with a small pink head. Delicious aroma of tart raspberries and a hint of caramel malt. Big raspberry flavour as well, with a good balance of sweetness and tartness. Really well made, and proof that despite the dumbing down of their mainstream brands, Amsterdam is still doing a great job with their specialty products.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2005 bottle, I assume big thanks to Sammy for the trade. Had this 7/10/2005. Highly unfiltered, this beer pours a deep red-raspberry jam color with caramel undertones. Pinkish yellow head is lasting and creates sheets of lace. Plenty of raspberry seeds at the bottom of the bottle. I seem to say this often, but this one has an incredibly fresh, authentic raspberry aroma. One of the best raspberry fruit beers of which I can think. Lightly tart and with a hint of light brown bread and acidity on the end. Flavor is a expertly integrated mix of brown malts, raspberries, delicious vanilla and caramel sweetness. A fresh acidity washes over the palate on the end. Natural, moderate carbonation adds just enough zest to make it refreshing. Lightly dry yeast on the end. Really pleasing on the tongue, hitting the sour and sweet receptors almost simultaneously. Having just had Founders Rubaeus, I must say that I like the added malt on this one, you can taste light caramel and some earthy, brown-bread dough which really provides more substance. Caramelized sugar with light raspberry creme brulee comes to mind. Less tartness, but still refreshing and drinkable. I also like that this brewer does not make any pretenses with the name and simply calls it framboise. The whole raspberries really make a difference. A wonderful fruit beer, and Iíd like some more.

red with small tan head. aroma is rasberries. no doubtage. taste is rasberry too.but seems a bit watered down, real rasberries in there, but someone added too much water. tastes like a framboise i made in my closet from a 20 dollar homebrew kit. i was happy with it, but it didnt compare to others.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bottles picked up from brewery. Crisp carbonation and tart forward berry give this very red beer refreshing appeal. It lacks some body, but it pours like champagne and is a great alternative to bubbly served in flutes with your weekend brunch. Flavored with whole (not extracted) rasperries; less seedy-tannic and medicinal tasting than KLB.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: APR 3, 2005 Could be the coolest bottle I have ever seen, wow. Pours murky brown with a light pinkish head. Full on rasberries in the nose along with a sour apple tartness. The taste is of course rasberries, tart, sweet, sour and bitter all at once. The flavor gets a bit more pronounced once it warms a bit but this is one fantastic beer for sure. Iíd love a bottle 2 years old.

3.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
How beautiful is this beer? It pours exactly the same colour as a chimay bleu! The smell is divine! Absolutely rampant of raspberries... but the taste is VERY sharp. I was shocked how sharp it was given the amazing aroma. Full bodied and satisfying noe the less

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 14, 2004 Ceramic swing top .75 liter bottle...no date code or freshness best before date. The pour reveals a brilliant berry red liquid with amber shades.....leaves a rocky light pink head that reduces to a fine lace and ring that virtually disappear half way through the drink. Moderate carbonation...just right for this type of drink...carbonation does not detract from the flavor departures. Nose is of fresh crushed berrys which seem to dominate the aroma. Starts very fresh and tart filled with tart berry and mildly sweet malts... then the mouth feel becomes silky but very dry with just hints of malt and light hopping......the finish is crisp of medium duration where the berries slowly give way to a dry malty aftertaste mingling with the fruit acerbity...very nice summer drink for the patio with mixed company....or good for serving with desert. Once of the best fruit beers Iíve seen domestically.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml ceramic bottle bought at the LCBO. Cork open with a huge pop, poured a medium pink beer with a super huge head with excellent retention. Carbonation is just perfect and aroma is great with what I can tell are real raspberry. Taste is not too sweet but still very refreshing with just enough tart. Limited hops but then that is to be expected of a fruit beer. This is a truly great fruit beer but the alcohol is just a bit too strong too make it truly great. Very good beer to enjoy during summertime.
