Natural Blonde is a creamy gold lager with noticable malt flavor and a hint of hop nose.

(341 ml bottle: Obtained 17-Jul-06 in trade with HogTownHarry, thanks Harry!) Harryís box of Canadian beer just came today, and I immediately put this beer in the fridge so I could rate it quickly. Thatís how excited I was to get this beer! Okay, not really, Iíve just been rating a lot of pale lagers lately, so it fits it with the theme. And Iíll tell you, Iíve had a lot worse than this offering from Amsterdam Brewing. Itís grainy and mildly sweet with a touch of corn, but at least itís not like stuffing a wad of nasty cardboard in my mouth. However, there are some off-flavors including a touch of paper and the beer is a bit too sweet (especially in the finish), so I canít say this is a very clean-tasting lager. Furthermore, the body is light and carbonation is moderate, but because of the sweetness, the lack of any bitterness or hops, and the less-than-enjoyable aftertaste, this isnít a clean or crisp beer on the palate either. The nose is a bit problematic; Iím getting a rather strong hint of stinky socks amidst the grainy aroma. Light-golden in color and clarity is excellent, but the carbonation streams are few and far between, so thatís a lost opportunity. Plus, the white head pours very small and fully dissipates within minutes. So, not horrible, but not that good either.

A long time fav. of mine, itís a little hoppier than I usually like them. Overall very clean and well balanced.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale gold with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma of grain, fruit, light malt and a faint hint of hops. Smells better then I expected. Very watery flavour of grain, fruit and malt with a mild hop finish. Iím not too fond of the aftertaste. Light bodied. Itís pretty mediocre stuff but at least it has some flavour and isnít extremely bland like many other Canadian Pale Lagers.

Draught @ The Brewery. Not good, not bad, just taking up space. Pours light in colour with a rapidly disappearing head, almost no scent to speak of. Flavour is somewhat generic, perhaps a bit more carbonated than I like. Like I said, itís not bad, thereís just nothing to separate it from other pale lagers.

Bottle (341ml). Bright clear light gold, small whie bubbly diminishing head. Aroma of grain, mild corn a little dry. Pretty genric corny/grainy taste, a little sweet yet some generic harsh hop bitterness, slightly unpleasant aftertaste. Mouthfeel - the usual watery pale lager impression ... not awful, would be a passable fishing beer.

Tap at Woolwich arms in Guelph, Ontario. Yellow body, with a thin white head. Faint fruity and hoppy aromas pair up with mild hops bitterness in the mouth, and a grassy lingering finish. Good amount of carbonation.

On tap at the Queenshead in Toronto. Dull aroma. Golden yellow, tin white head. Not much flavour. Slightly bitter. Much better when purchased at the brewery than anywhere else of course.

Had a nice aroma, almost citrus smell. appearance was just as the bottle says, blonde lager. Flavor was tangy almost like I.C.Light. Palate is watery like most pale lagers. Overall only gets 6/20 because its extremely overpriced

A very sweet lager. Iíd be guessing crystal malt. Low hopping. Slight white wine flavour to the beer. Barely no aroma. Very plain beer. Not much more to say.
