2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: FEB 14, 2007 On tap at Sneaky Dees - looks like a macro, smells like a macro, must be....a micro!? Get this when there’re only Molson and Labatt products on offer and sleep soundly knowing that you supported the micro-underdog.......in name only. There are FAR better local offerings and even some better macro ones. Not horrible, just pretty forgettable and bland. Sad really, because way back when, this was my introduction to "craft" beer, and when I drank this, I felt special.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
From a sealed capped 341 ml. clear glass bottle with no freshness date.
The foam started to rise as soon as I opened the bottled, poured slowly and carefully, a hazy yellowish lager golden with a frothy, rocky, white head. good retention.
Aromas of lemons and grass, a bit spicy and sweet pale lager malts.
Good fizzy carbonation and a crisp, dryish, smooth light bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant tasting, a lightly sweet and tart lemon, hop spicy, a grassy graininess, and a dry lemony, malty finish.
I like lagers in general and I found this to be very enjoyable, easy drinkability, glad I had a chance to try it.
Acquired in a trade with Sammy, thanks!

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear golden lager with a thick collapsing white head. Light corn adjunct malt aroma. In mouth, a crisp beer with light malt, corn character, and light german hopping. Light bodied. A plain micro lager.

I love this beer. Had it for the first time on Tap at a fine establishment downtown. Great color, Smooth taste a little on the hoppy side but it leaves very little after taste. I buy my cases right from the brewery so its always freash! If nothing else. its def worth a try

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
This was a terrible beer. There was absolutely no head, it was watery and had a terrible aftertaste. Worse than a average lager, it reminded me of soap.

(341 ml bottle: Obtained 17-Jul-06 in trade with HogTownHarry, thanks Harry!) Harry’s box of Canadian beer just came today, and I immediately put this beer in the fridge so I could rate it quickly. That’s how excited I was to get this beer! Okay, not really, I’ve just been rating a lot of pale lagers lately, so it fits it with the theme. And I’ll tell you, I’ve had a lot worse than this offering from Amsterdam Brewing. It’s grainy and mildly sweet with a touch of corn, but at least it’s not like stuffing a wad of nasty cardboard in my mouth. However, there are some off-flavors including a touch of paper and the beer is a bit too sweet (especially in the finish), so I can’t say this is a very clean-tasting lager. Furthermore, the body is light and carbonation is moderate, but because of the sweetness, the lack of any bitterness or hops, and the less-than-enjoyable aftertaste, this isn’t a clean or crisp beer on the palate either. The nose is a bit problematic; I’m getting a rather strong hint of stinky socks amidst the grainy aroma. Light-golden in color and clarity is excellent, but the carbonation streams are few and far between, so that’s a lost opportunity. Plus, the white head pours very small and fully dissipates within minutes. So, not horrible, but not that good either.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a clear pale gold with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma of grain, fruit, light malt and a faint hint of hops. Smells better then I expected. Very watery flavour of grain, fruit and malt with a mild hop finish. I’m not too fond of the aftertaste. Light bodied. It’s pretty mediocre stuff but at least it has some flavour and isn’t extremely bland like many other Canadian Pale Lagers.
