2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 WheatKing (157) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 25, 2012
Yeah it’s nice to have a bit of bite in a pale lager, however small it is. It’s made for people who are looking for something better than Canadian but aren’t yet beer-curious (ahem). I respect this beer for what it is. (Wow, my TENTH RATING! To the moon...)
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Metalchopz (1427) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 4, 2012
Originally rated May 2005. Poured a light yellow colour with not bad retention. There was big bubble carbonation at the bottom of the glass. The nose was of metallic scents with mild malt. The mouthfeel was flat and smooth. Tasted mostly corn with very slight bitterness. Refreshingly clean, but a clear dissapointment.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 DeanF (1480) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - FEB 1, 2012
Yellow carbonated body, no head. Soft aroma of orange peels and hops, but not in a good way. Flavour is well-balanced malts with dry hops and a dry finish, this beer’s saving grace. But even after that, it does not excel beyond the middle of the pack.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 rejtable (468) - Ontario, CANADA - NOV 13, 2011
In can at Great Wolfe Lodge (!??!?). In a sea of crap, was surprised to find this can poolside at GWL. Not a lot of redeeming values, but at least some depth of flavour, and a tiny bit of bite.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 asheft (2072) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 31, 2011
[on tap as Embassy Blond at the Irish Embassy, Toronto, Ontario, Canada]
Slight hay aroma with some grain and sour ethanol. Clear gold under white wisps and a ring. Almost crisp malt flavour with some faint hay. Ethanolic notes with a subtle bitterness and some onions. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Block (864) - West Lafayette, Indiana, USA - OCT 9, 2011
Pale gold pour with a white head. Straw aroma and flavor. Straightforward and boring. Tastes how it look.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 northropfrye (841) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - SEP 21, 2011
Well, for a pale lager this is okay. Crisp, clean, clear, and there’s a touch of bitter flavour there. Okay.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 solidfunk (647) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 12, 2011
A pretty tasteless beer. Sours after a few sips, unremarkable. I guess they just market themselves on the dutch name thing, hoping people like me think it’s something better... On tap
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 HeistAlmighty (540) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - SEP 4, 2011
473ml can. Aroma is wheaty malt. VERY clear golden colour, about one finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Taste is rather simple grain malts, a little sweet without being too sticky. A bit of herbal hops on the first save this from being totally generic. Body is light and refreshing, gets close to being watery but not quite.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Viper666 (1210) - Saint-Hubert, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 8, 2011
Canette 473ml.
