Canette 473ml.

Deep brown pour with a thinnish head. The aroma has a bit of deep coffeeish character over a decent malty sweetness. Fairly decent full-bodied character. There is a kiss of herbal flavour through the middle of the palate as well. A little bit of soft cocoa character as well. As far as brown ales go, it’s pretty solid stuff.

Typical nut brown ale, tastes of nuts in fact and it is quite dark. Decent taste, overall it is a good offering

On tap a mezes in Toronto. Nothing special about this beer. Might have been a bit maltier

Draught at Snooty Fox Westdale Hamilton. Pours a darkish brown, slight red tinge. Aroma of malt and nut. Tastes also of roasted malt and nut and slightly caramel. Great finish.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 thb (608) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 1, 2010
Pours dark brown, reddish tint visible in the light. Decent head bubbles away for a while then descends into just a film. Rather dull aroma of caramel malts. Very lively taste though. Surprisingly complex malt profile - caramel mostly, coffee in the background. Nice fruity character - cherries maybe? Kind of disappointingly thin mouthfeel. Lingering fruity/dry-bitter finish.

Cannette 500 ml. 5%.

473 ml can from MrManning- thanks again, Len! Pours a clear, dark amber with a finger-thick off-white head. Notes of caramel malts and to a lesser degree chocolate malts, nuts, brown sugar, toast, cereal, earth, and a touch of coffee. Light-medium bodied, and a little watery for the style. Low carbonation. Sessionable brown ale.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 RC8 (304) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 28, 2010
This is a pretty decent ale. I live next to the brewery, so occasionally I’ll get a 6-pack and it keeps me pretty happy. It’s heads and shoulders above all macros, but it’s relatively light and sessionable - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing whenever I have people over.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a brief tan head. Aroma is weak, nuances of brown sugar and cocoa. Flavours are brown sugar and chocolate, pretty straightforward, with a dry oxidized finish. Average at best.
