Bottle: Poured a deep clear brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of nutty caramel malt is quite intense and enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by this medium sweet nutty caramel taste. Body is average with some spritzy carbonation which doesn’t fir very well. While I don’t need a full hops assault on my brown ale I would appreciate at least some hops inclusion which I can’t say is the case here.

another brown ale that looks like a stout, very very dark pour with a beige head. Aroma is very very roasty, some nice malt, and coffee, with a touch of chocolate. mouthfeel is a tad wattery, but the flavour is nice, lots f roasty malt, and some chocolate, with a little hops, overall a nice beer. but i would say leaning more towards a stout.

Brouwser (119) - gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 29, 2008

500ml bottle from MrManning, my Canadian swillmaster - thanks Len! Cola pour, complete with a fizzing light brown head. LOts of carbonation. Lots of cocoa in the nose, mildly nutty, a bit metallic, lightly earthy. Watery, sodalike body, mild black coffee and nuts, a bit of cheap tasting chocolate. This is a lot like a watery porter, IMO. Not bad, really - with a better body, this might be pretty damn good.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2008 Looks like coke, but I guess "Nut Black Ale" wouldn’t work. Overly carbonated, tasteless and a crappy acidic burn going down. An insult to the name "ale" and sad proof that small brewers can put out bad product just like the macros.

KingofCastle (202) - London, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 5, 2008
bottle: I love ales, but this nut brown lacks smooth drinking ability. Lots of flavour but it lacks a really malty base to round out the strong nut tastes. Finishing this was a bit of a chore. Maybe I"m too harsh on this one, as nut brown ales are not my thing.

french tickler (648) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 6, 2008
500 ml bottle - Poors a clear dark brown with red hues and a small thin light brown head. Aromas of green bananas, caramelised malts, caramel, hazelnuts and an earthy finish. Lack of balance in this brew... Fad and watered down a bit. Flavors are very metallic and can i say it also tastes like fish... very awkward flavors and mouthfeel...

Eructoblaster (2518) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 22, 2008
Bottle - 500ml. Pours a dark cola brown with a fair beige creamy/foamy head. Its malty aroma carries nutty hints. Although it is well balanced, the malty/hoppy taste lacks strength and complexity. Ends with a short bitter/roasty finish. Ordinary.
