VeloVampire (387), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 27, 2008 On tap at C’est What - came a reddish brown with a good head that retained well. And that’s where the fun ended - aroma of artificial fruit (certainly not pomegranate) and not much wheat at all. Tasted like a slightly alcoholized cherry-fluoride. I wanted to like this one and applaud the effort, but the outcome is a bit off. Stick to the Framboise.
Spab (52), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 5, 2008 500 ml bottle. Pours a clearish copper with slightly off-white head. Aroma fairly strong, though pleasant, of pomegranate. Flavour likewise prominently features pomegranate, but with hint of wheat. Pomegranate not too sweet, more tart in the finish. Light body. A bit one note perhaps, but it’s a decent note and makes for a decent summer beer. pootzboy (863), Calgary/ Kitchener, Alberta, Canada Aug 31, 2008 Bottle from LCBO.
Pours a burnished copper color, slightly hazed with a reddish tinge. Decent cap fair lacing. Lively carbonation
Funky sweet fruit aroma and musty earthy notes.
Light body, dry wheat biscuit flavor light woody hopping with a persistent pomegranate flavor that stays through to the dry tart finish.
A light fruity spritzy-dry summer wheat beer in the commercial vein. No real flaws just not memorable enough to stand out. The_Jester (493), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2008 500 mL bottle. 4.5%. Coppery in colour, and in the right light you can catch a hint of purple. No head. Very strong aroma of pomegranate juice - not too sweet, though. And there’s too much pomegranate in the flavour - no balance at all. Not too sweet, but there is no bitterness or tang either. Not my thing. Elkas (2), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada does not count Aug 7, 2008 500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours nicely, with a nice head and deep copper colour. Aroma is very pleasant, and I actually paused to inhale a bit longer. The first taste however is dissapointing, starting with a harsh medicinal taste, then following with a fruity sweetness. It likely would be better had I chilled it more. mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 6, 2008 [1379-20080523] Tap. Light fruity cherry cough syrup aroma. Clear, light brown orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Flavour is mostly fruity sweet pomegranate with notes of apricot and wheat. Medium body has a bit of a tang. Refreshing, good to try.
