3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jbrus (4990) - Delft, - JUL 25, 2002
It was spring and it was a bock. But that’s all. Not very interesting but drinkable. Sweet, some spice (I think it was coreander), malty.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jayseppi (55) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 22, 2012
Deep ruby body that gives off aromas of licorice, spices, and bread. Sweet flavour of caramel licorice, currant and some hop bitterness on the back. A slick, oily mouth feel.

I love how prominent the abv is on the bottle, brilliant marketing. Pours deep dark mahogany with a thing off white head. The aroma is pretty much dark fruit, raisins, and tootsie rolls. The flavor is pretty much an exact reflection of that, real big on the tootsie rolls, then ends on a sort of cardboard malt/extract hop bitterness deal. It’s alright, but I’d prefer to drink something else.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 WheatKing (157) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 25, 2012
Bock bock bock. Well this one wasn’t stellar but I loved how the alcohol was masked, that’s good. On the other hand I did get a metallic aftertaste so you get the good with the bad. My tasting notes mention the spiciness, particularly anise. Despite the picture I did not taste springbok so I plan to write a letter to the Better Business Bureau. Yeah I’d share the drink with a German dude, why not?
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 shaynsawchuk (29) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - APR 23, 2012
500 mL bottle. Roasty malt, raisin, caramel and a hint of smokiness on the nose. Pours a rich cola color with tightly knit tan head. Fairly sweet with lingering bitter and sour notes as the sugars subside. Medium to full body, thick and meaty feeling on the tongue. Drank by itself but would have loved to taste it next to a meat pie or some beef stew.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Bendrixian (446) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - APR 15, 2012
Cloudy brown/mahagony colour. big aroma, fruity a hint of cereal, and a hint of roast. palate has a chocolate/roast flavour. foamy and creamy and same time balanced by an alcohol texture. I don’t know why this one scores so low. it is a decent Dunkler Bock.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 solidfunk (647) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 2, 2012
Smells sticky sweet, honey and alcohol. Colour is mahogany. Taste has more sweetness that picks up as the beer warms up. The sweet smell becomes quite strong then. Taste has strong after of alcohol with some alc-related bitterness. I don’t detect any of the chocolate that the label claims. Tall bottle from licbo.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 whitecap (215) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 1, 2012
500ml bottle. Pours dark brown. 7% ABV. beige head with weak retention. Aroma of malt, funked dark fruit....very malty. medium-heavy sweet with minimal bitterness. minor sourness. medium bodied with thick texture. light carbonation. Overall it was relatively inexpensive. Was not expecting much. I suppose it met my expectations. Nothing special.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Crockett (925) - Steelback County, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 21, 2012
Dark Brown Caramel. Nose of wine, caramel, vinegar, and hop. Tastes pretty sweet and heavy for a spring day. Cola flavours, mild spice. Booze is pronounced but not offensive. Surprisingly hopped and bitter for something from Amsterdam. Finish is a little sticky.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 cyrenaica (790) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 24, 2012
500ml bottle
7.0% ABV
I tried this beer on February 20, 2012 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a very dark brown, almost black colour (think coca-cola) with a short-lived brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, plums, and coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is very malty, sweet, and very enjoyable. I liked this beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Viper666 (1210) - Saint-Hubert, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 4, 2011
