341 ml bottle from brewery. Pours dark brown in colour, with lots of capuccino coloured head. Mild nutty aroma. Flavour is a little stronger, and again is nutty.

[2327-20090723] 341mL bottle. Strong boozy sweet whiskey barrel malt. Clear, brown amber body with a quick off-white head. Sweet thick malt flavour has a long finish. Medium body. Drinkable, fair.

2009-07-23. Very dark brown bdiy with a small beige head. (3+) Very malty aroma with toasty malt touches. Sweet dark malt base is balanced nicely with some drier toasty malt touches and brief kisses of roast. (7+) Smooth average plus bodied palate. Pretty solid doppelbock. Possibly the best beer I have had from Amsterdam. Bottle from the brewery c/o Tupalev

Nose is heavy sweet malt, treacle, dark copper, small tan head. Taste has loads of candied malt, walnuts and cake. Light bodied, very well balanced, delightfully bitter. Great stuff! Kudos Derek on Your recipe!

Bottle from pfriesen. Thanks Peter. This is dark brown with a half inch head. There’s lots of raisin in the aroma, grapeskins, dark sugar, cinnamon, smoke. Mouthfeel is medium, a bit clinging on the tongue. There’s some brown bread in the flavour; I taste caramel, raisin, molasses, smoke, a bit of alcohol.

341mL thanks to Mat at our KW group tasting. Pours a mahogany colour with little head. The aroma is very sweet, berries feature prominently, toffee and roasty malts as well, with some residual sugar. The flavour is even more sweet with the same nice berry element to it. A bit perfumy and sharp. Very drinkable at 8% (though there were 3 different labels on the bottle with different ABV’s, which kind of makes me want to email the brewery to tell them to get their damn act together), my only issue being how little it seems like a bock to me. But over-all it is quite nice and a shame it’s so damn hard to get.

341 ml bottle shared byt the KW crew. pour clear bugundy with a small tan head. aroma of cara malts, dark fruit, light hopping but it a small aroma. the flavour is similar with no glaring flaws or huge highlights. its not a bad brew and i wish id enjoyed it on a fresher palate but it didnt blow me away on this evening. congrats to derek for getting this brewed.

Bottle (341ml) courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a deep clear mahogany with a small diminishing off-white head. Mild aroma of lightly toasted caramel malt, dark fruit, a hint of smoke and some light herbal hops. Slightly watery, slightly sweet flavour of lightly toasted malt, dark fruit, some alcohol and light hops in the dry finish. Medium bodied. Decent and probably the best Amsterdam beer.
