341 ml bottle from brewery. Pours dark brown in colour, with lots of capuccino coloured head. Mild nutty aroma. Flavour is a little stronger, and again is nutty.

(500mL 2012 bottle from LCBO) Poured cellar temp, a dark cola colour with an inch of tan head that faded very quickly. Aroma malty and complex, dark bread with some nuttiness, a bit of chocolate roastiness and some dark fruits and spice. Flavour is again malt-driven, lots of toasted nuts, chocolate, fig, spice and treacle matched with a lot of bittering hops to keep the beer from getting too cloying. Finishes dry. Smooth, rich but well balanced and hides its alcohol. A little lean for the style, but a good beer.

2 finger head. Black but red in spots at light. smells of chocolate, spice(mabye like chi tea)and caremal. Taste is some bitter at time’s,lots of heavy chocolate & ceramel and full boodied from hops. A little water a few sips or so. Really good but wouldn’t want alot or offten but its like a good desert beer and good for a buzz that 7% style gives cheer’s!

0.5l bottle from the LCBO, served in a pint glass. Aroma: Coffee, caramel, butterscotch, hints of banana. Appearance: Transparent brown-orange, small fine brown head, no visible carbonation. Palate: thin-end of medium bodied, smooth, dry finish. Taste: Sweet. Strongly of alcohol. More bitter in the finish. Not bad, but taste is kind of flat.

2012 vintage, fresh bottle. Good malt flavour profile, a little thin on the body. Overall a decent effort and one to seek out after all the winter brews' ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Velvety smooth, dark reddish-brown, almost like blackened copper. Very sippable, nutty chocolate profile laced with creamy coffee notes.

Exceptionally smooth on the tongue. Deep sweet maltiness balanced with bitter hops. Scent of chocolate. Strong but tame. There’s something here... I just can’t name it right now.

First of all... I think I got this one in the right place. Pours reddish-brown, one-inch tanhead with average retention and sizeable lace. Pretty (4). Aroma is sweet malts, molasses. Hints of toffee and nuts as well. (7) Taste is ... well, first all, it’s a little too sweet for my tastes. Otherwise, it’s quite heavy on molasses and toffee. There’s a hint of maple and smoke as well. Has a somewhat oak-ish feel, even if I’m pretty sure there was no oak involved in the brewing. (7) Medium-to-heavy bodied, watery mouthfeel (wut?). Perfect carbonation. (4) All in all -- commendable. Not a masterpiece by any stretch, but a drink I’ll never say no to.

(Drank this one with rodenbach99 (his bottle) somewhere in april and unfortunately my rating was in the wrong spot) Le liquide brun rougeâtre est couronné par une petite tête mousseuse.

(Rating #3623)
