This is an excellent effort from Kyle, and from the folks at Amsterdam. Thank you for bringing it to us. Draught at Chancey Smithís. Very deep and dark brown, with a thick and creamy mocha cap. Has creamy ringing lace.Nose is smoky, with nutty notes and a bit of roast. Tastes of semi sweet smoky malts, has medium bitterness and at times is almost salty. A full bodied effort with creamy and soft carbonation. Lenghty smoked finish. Excellent.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: Pitch black, dirty thick brown head. Aroma: Bacon, maple, smoke, burnt malt, whiskey and peat, hardwood, spicy too. Flavour: Smoked salmon, smoked meat, dry, smoked sausage, bacon, spicy. This is fantastic, I love smoked beers and itís a shame that it took a home brewer to raise this breweries profile (well done to the brewer though!!!!) I love it! Nom Nom

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle - pours very, very dark brown, and in the glass it might as well be black, save for the faintest mahogany tones at the edges, and only when held to the light. Decent two-finger mocha head that sloooowly fades and laces nicely. Aroma is woodsmoke, some dark ripe fruits, and some chocolate. Flavour is subtle woodsmoke, black licorice, a hint of iodine, molasses. Thick, and slightly vaporous, satisfying. Medium roasty finish with a bit of rounded nuttiness. Superb beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the brewery. Dark ruby-brown with a good sized mocha head. Fantastic aroma - obvious notes of woodsmoke, but balanced by slightly charred malt and a hint of very dark roasted - almost charred - coffee. Body is a bit light, but the flavour makes up for it - the smoke and malt and coffee suggested by the aroma are there, joined by cocoa and licorice, and a hint of herbal hops toward the end. Excellent!

Pitch black pour with a thick tan-brown head. The nose is softly smoky with an insistent smokiness and a bit of light chocolate as well. A bit of sweetness, but itís well balanced with the light salty smoke. Insistently smoky but not over the top - itís a solid smoked porter.

500 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours pitch black in colour, with frothy light-tan coloured head. Lots of lacing. Aroma and taste are dominated by smokiness. Not quite smoked salmon, but very smoky. Very cool to take homebrew winner to production environment. Good beer!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml from brewery store. Nice black-brown look with mocha cap. Pretty strong aromas of smoky malt, and a bit of saltiness. Taste of fruit is a bit wine-like; some really delicious wood-smoky dark malt flavors. Overtones of hops that show lemon and a hint of grass, quite nice stuff Kyle!

Pour super deep dark opaque brown with nice 1.5 finger thick light caramel head. Aroma of wood, hickory smoke and bit of roasty malt. Taste xmas spices, smoke, hickory, malt sweetness, tobacco, and touch of bitter to balance the big malt body. MF medium body decent carb abv hidden well. This is a tasty smoke beer and a nice beer to enjoy on a snowy day.

Bottle [500ml]. Pours black with ruby hues and an average size diminishing creamy/frothy light-brown head. Lovely aroma of roasted malt and smoke followed by wood and dark fruit. Flavour of roasted malt, smoke, dark fruit, some salt and a hint of chocolate. Bodyís a little lighter then Iíd prefer but not too bad. This is very good and the best thing Amsterdam has ever done, maybe they need to get homebrewers to make all of their beers?
