Bottle courtesy of Dougshoemaker. Rating taken from notes taken on paper napkin of half drunken bottle. Very dark, typical of the style, a very oily appearance with a nice thick mocha foam. It leaves layered lace as you drink it. Heavy on the dark chocolate and roast/coffee, with just a bit of vanilla and soy. Sweet with medium bitterness. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Oily, bitter finish. Thanks so much Doug.

This stout poured a deep balck colour with a deep tan coloured head that was very creamy. To the nose there are scents of roasted malts, molassass with a little coffee and cocoa. A hint of the old time Meloids Cough candies too. First sip had a very heavy mouthfeel with strong flavours of smoke and strong coffee,. Finish was as roasty as you can get. Very full bodied Imp stout, not for the faint!

Bottle @ RBAG - Pours clear black, thintan head, spotty lacing. Nose is toast, biscuit, burnt bread. Flavours of toasty black biscuit, some light mocha, some mineral/graphite. Big on the finish without being sticky. Faultless, but not one of the World’s Greatest.

August 27, 2011 - on draught at The 2011 Golden Tap Awards @ BeerBistro. Impenetrable black pour, light brown creamy head. Aroma - lovely - deep nutty roast, with chocolate, coffee beans, fresh herbal bitterness and some clotted cream in restrained proportions, framed unusually by lush grain, oily, something like ripe sorghum or canola -- and fairly light alcohol presence - overall a nice balance, says "drink me!" Taste follows, less grain, a bit more alcohol, add licorice and plenty of fruit - maybe a bit of cola to knock it down some in score. Average impy body, slick, light carbonation, warming alcohol in the finish - solid. **** I have had this a couple of times since, and my opinion is higher as a result - great stuff.

Bottle, shared at RBAG 2012 Summer Session. Near black pour, looks awesome! Aroma is heavy burnt sugar and roast, very enticing if you like sweet dark things (and I do). Rich roasty palate, muscavado sugar, cream, bitter chocolate, mmmmm! Surpassed my expectations for sure! Nice!

gramity (1307) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 20, 2012
Bottle shared at RBAG Summer Session 2012. Aroma is lots of roasted malt, chocolate, slightly woody and just a hint of booze. Mouthfeel is incredibly rich, the beer almost feels thick in your mouth. Taste is lots of dark bitter chocolate, and roasted malt, with a bit of a yeasty character it seems and just a hint of dark fruit. Really nice

RBAG summer 2012. Bottle from wilco, 2012 bottle with 10% abv.. Black pour, mocha head that sticks to the edge of the glass. Nose has roasted malt and coffee. Taste has roasted malts, chocolate and pleasant bitterness. Late roastiness, some alcohol notes. Lingering coffee and dark chocolate notes. Medium bodied, smooth in the mouth, light carbonation. Solid imperial stout, would be easy to drink a whole bottle to one’s self.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours solid black/brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, dates, wood. Flavour as above. Extremely roasted, heavy, dark, sooty. Sublte sweetness present at the beginning of the mouthful, then it turns dark and intensely roasted. Full bodied. Nice.

500mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks Mike), pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is quite subtle, with licorice, dark fruits, wood, and molasses. Flavour features woody roasted malt upfront, with some dark fruits and subtle licorice notes behind - fruity sweetness and high hoppy bitterness on the finish. Medium-to-full bodied with a medium complexity for an impy. Very enjoyable.

Bottle from liamt07. Black with no head. Anise, dark roasted, almost burnt malts, bit nutty, some coffee, chocolate - and unfortunately not too much else with a stuffed up nose :( Relatively smooth, not much alcohol but its there, relatively sweet but a bit of underlying bitterness, chocolate is present as well. Quite tasty.
