2012 Bottle, 9%, LCBO. Pitch black with a chocolatey brown head. Aroma is interesting but not quite inviting - sort of tinny, some alcohol, but in a port sort of way, a bit of roast malt - this threw me off a bit. Taste - better! Sweet, strong, roasty and rich. Medium oily mouthfeel suits it perfectly. A thick big beast of a stout that is very good, but just finishes too short - lacks the complexity of the exceptional beers in this category. Still, a fine effort that I will buy again (and have already) - aging should do this one some good as well.

Couleur noir avec quelques reflet brun et un mince col beige. Aromes de grains grillés,café,chocolat, tabac, notes terreuse. Dure a boire, ce n’est pas mon style d’imperial stout!

2014/12/10 - Pours a jet black colour with a creamy tan head that lingers. Aroma is cocoa, toasted malt, black berries and herbal hops. Taste is bitter cocoa, lactose, dark berries, toasted malt, ash, umami and herbal hop notes. Mouthfeel is slick with biting carbonation and a semi sweet, herbal and mildly boozy finish. Very nice. Really developes with warmth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle. Opaque black body, medium chocolate head with good retention, a residual foam and layered lacing. Aroma of black currant and blackberry jam, wood charcoal, prunes, herbal hops, metallic and light alcohol. Lovely taste of well-done toast, some wood charcoal, dried berries, blackberry jam a touch of licorice, dark chocolate. A touch of herbal bitterness in the aftertaste. Lovely bouquet. Truly shines when warms to 15-18C.

Bottle, 2014 release, labelled as 9% ABV. Black pour with a medium foamy mocha head. Aroma is somewhat sweet, some dark chocolate and coffee with just a hint of soy sauce. Flavour starts sweet, chocolate and coffee with some subtle cinnamon and nutmeg, finishes with some nice bitterness and roasty flavours, and a touch of hops as it warms. Very thick, oily and creamy with low carbonation, and a touch boozy. A very nice imperial stout!

Pours dark brown to black tan head lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is lots of burnt malt, flavor is bitter chocolate with lots of hop bitterness. Could use some more sweetness.

Received in a trade with dresden -- 500mL bottle poured into a tulip, opaque black with almost no head, with tan/brown bubbles. Aroma is roasty, tobacco, and coffee. Tastes very similar as the aroma although a little muted and much more melded. Mouthfeel is s little thin, but I don’t think it detracts.
