Slacks (355), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Apr 29, 2006 Draught @ The Brewery: Pay attention to the pour, it’s the best part. Thick and dark, with hints of red, and a thick head that stays (a rarity at Amsterdam). I smelled stronger than the beer, oddly. Flavour is acceptable and surprisingly refreshing. I expected very little, got a very light (ie. watery) beer with touches of chocolate and coffee amongst the roasted hop flavour. Almost like someone poured a schwarzbier in your Guinness. I’ll take the schwarzbier or the Guinness, personally, but I’ve had worse.
PaulHegedus (64), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Aug 29, 2008 Draught at Smokeless Joe, Toronto. Smells dark, roasted, with chocolate. The Mouthfeel is light and thin. There’s not a lot of flavour, some roasted coffee and chocolate. hopson (473), Williamsville, New York, USA Jul 21, 2008 draft at kalendar in TO- nitro- nice enough. Nothing too fancy. More in your face roasted/bitterness and chocolate notes than I was expecting- these definintely added to the beer. Would go to again. hip_hop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 10, 2008 Black w/ creamy beige head. Nice chocolate & coffee nose. Smooth but thin for style and everso slightly watery. Coffee & chocolate dominate flavour which was not overly complex. Did pick up some nuts. garthicus (550), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 19, 2007 Tap - Jesters - Toronto: Jet black, tiny head, very little aroma, but what was there was a weak hint of chocolate. Very faint flavour also, malt and coffee, not bad however I expected more. mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 8, 2007 [628-20070917] Nitro-Tap @ C’est What (Toronto, ON). Brewery floor yeast aroma with some faint chocolate malt. Black dark red body with a long-lasting thick creamy light tan head and thick creamy lacing. Rich coffee malt flavour with creamy dark chocolate base and a chocolate aftertaste. Creamy medium body is all from the nitro. Very nice but mild stout.
