A collaboration brew with Mike Lackey of Great Lakes Brewing. This Leipziger Gose is a refreshing brew spiced with coriander and salt.

Draft. Straw yellow in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas are of muted wheat, wet stones, and a hint of lemon peel. Tastes quite doughy (pizza dough specifically), along with a salted Meyer lemon element. Too bready and heavy to be refreshing.

Tap at Bier Markt in Toronto. Not a great gose. Very mild salt - hard to pick it up. Mild sour lemon - also very subdued. Almost a buttery note to it.

Iíve been the first for a few listings now, thanks Indie and Bellwood, but I think this is the first time, I suspect, that I might be the last. (Unless there is someone with more patience than I, or they re-issue the beer. Boy, then Iíll have egg on my face. (And a lot more of this awesome beer in my belly.)) Cellared my last one of these just to see how it would do. The answer it did well. Pours a cloudy gold with a touch of amber, finger and a bit of white fluffy head that reduces to a thick sheet. Smells mildly of citrus, little sour grapes, coriander, and a little wheat. The taste some mild wheat malts, sourness, coriander, mild grape. Slat shows up in the aftertaste, but I donít know that I would have seen if I hadnít been looking. Nice dryness to it and lovely coriander, sourness to the aftertaste. Sorry to see you go my malty friend. Letís hope the second, newly-released Great Lakes Brewery X Amsterdam colab "Ezra" is as good.

Batch ST 001, brewed Sept 2012. 500 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a stem glass. Pours hazy orange-golden with a small, off-white head that fades to a ring of bubbles and leaves no lace. The nose has notes of sour apple, grapes, lemon, biscuity malts, spice and a bit of funk. The flavour is quite dry throughout with wheat, pale malts, a hint of fruit, coriander and grassy hops. A subtle tartness is present throughout, but it is quite minimal. The finish is long, dry and a bit hoppy, with wheaty notes and a hint of salt at the very end. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a dry texture, average carbonation and a touch of astringency. Overall, this is an interesting brew that combines dry wheatiness, sour fruit notes, funk and a distinct salty finish. The combination is perhaps less than the sum of its parts. 2013-06-20

Bottle was a gift from Guillaume! Cheers! Pours a transparent golden orange, no head. Aroma: Fruity. Grapes, peach, banana. Smells a bit like champagne. Palate: Medium bodied, fizzy, slightly harsh. Taste: Like a beer crossed with champagne with some pear and peach juice thrown in.

Bottle: Poured a pale yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light coriander notes with wheat malt and light salty notes. Taste is also dominated by wheat malt with light coriander and some light salty notes are also perceptible. Body is light with great carbonation. There is some citrus and tart notes but not in an overwhelming way. Very enjoyable summer beer with some complexity.

2013/08/10 - Pours a hazy straw colour with a large, fizzy, white head that reduces quickly. Aroma is hay, citrus, barnyard funk and spices. Taste is lemon, barnyard funk, pepper and spices. Mouthfeel is medium with lively, effervescent carbonation and a crisp, dry finish. Very refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
