3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Kestral (494) - Årnes, - AUG 25, 2011
Dark, dark reddish brown, slightly hazy with a small offwhite head on top. Aromas of burnt sugar, caramel, chocolate, some dark fruits and honey. A hint of alcohol. Reminds me of a pumped up Guinness. Fairly roasty on the tongue, the mid tastes light pure wort, not a lot of hops going on. Finishes semidry, but mostly from the burnt malts. It’s a bit timid. Medium bodied, mellow but adequately carbonated. This is.. good I guess. A decent sessioner, but they are playing it very safe with this one.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Finn (2610) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 5, 2011
Fra fat på Amundsen, Oslo 19 Okt 11. Ekstremt dyprød. Flott kremaktig skum som fester seg til glassveggen og daler sakte. Pent. Aroma? Smak? Til nød merkes litt bitterhet i avslutninga. Like innholdsløs som en makrolager - men penere!

Malty sweetness, both in aroma and taste. Colour-wise it lends towards brown, head is off-white. (tap@brewpub)
1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 2/20 ClubGonzo (1943) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 21, 2011
On tap @ Amundsen Bryggeri og Spiseri, Oslo. Pours a deep red-amber body with a small white creamy head. Aroma is booze, deep malty tones, hints of rotten eggs and butter. Clearly oxidized, possibly infected even further. Taste, as I actually dare a couple of sips to get the rating straight, reveals more rotten eggs and sulfur, dry malt sweetness, booze (how is that even possible at 4,5 % ABV?), hints of dust and sand. Jeez, talk about bad batch. Or maybe Amundsen needs to clean up their pipelines or something. In either case, this was pretty horrible, and so very far, far away from the mind-blowing Fenrir Amber Ale made with Ægir. Oh well, I guess Amundsen still have a long way to go with their beers, all in all.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rune (4924) - Tromsø, NORWAY - SEP 15, 2011
250ml, draught at the brewpub. Pours an attractive, almost mahogany coloured body covered with a thin, beige layer and a few bubbles at the edge of the glass. Plain roasted aroma of mid-sweet malts. Dark chocolate flavour plus a note of caramel followed by dark fruits towards the ending. Well made brew, very moreish (Oslo, 30.08.2011).
