DruncanVeasey (5136) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, - JUN 8, 2011
Bottle from The Wine Cellars, Lutterworth. Burnished with a slim white collar. Perfumed hop aroma hinting at pineapple jelly and violets over a pale attractively nutty malt base. Clean and slightly soapy with a good tangy interplay of hops, yeast, malt. Flowery with an earthy background and bitter kick to finish. Good. And earns a double bonus point for the correctly punctuated label.

Cask, Blackfriars, Inverness. Murkyish amber looks with a minimal white head. Some vague fruit and hop in the nose and flavour but too much diacetyl spoiled things totally for me. Poor, uninspiring beer.

Half pint, cask at my pilgrimage to Leslie’s Bar. Nitro creamy, white head blanketing the glass. Copper coloured body. Smell of malty sweetness and mild fruits. Malt-fruity taste with weight on hop resin. Fine bitter end on the swallow. Not watered in anyway (Edinburgh, 28.11.2010).

Bottle at Toridon YHA. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Mellow sweetness and a little dryness. Fruity hops aromas. Hints of caramel malts. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry hippy finish.

Cask @ The State. Light copper colour, short white head. Aroma is caramel malts, a bit of hops. Flavour is initially hoppy, lemonade, sweet fruits, then dry biscuit malts. Watery finish.

Bottle from Hogs Back Brewery shop. Pours a golden yellow colour with a thin white head. Real skunky aroma, the taste is sweet with a salty citrus mouthfeel, with a dry finish. Very disappointed by this beer,

A Mes rate: cask at the Three Judges, Glasgow.
Clean golden with a thin Persil white head. Creamy and wheaty malt aroma with light citric notes. Bland-ish flavour that is simialr to the nose. Just not quite enough hop for me.

On tap: coloured like honey, small persistent head, moderate sulphury and hoppy nose, some malt in the background, underpinned by a discreet fruitiness; moderate bitter flavour, light bodied; green apples in the bitter aftertaste. O.K., spicy and pleasant..........

Nuffield (3083) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUL 16, 2007
Side by side with a half-pint of Houston Killelan. This was slightly darker, but still a golden beer with moderate-sized bubbles. Dustry, dry, slightly like old tobacco leaves. Underlying fruitiness, with a vegetal, grassy edge, and a wholly controlled bitterness, as if it would come out if it could but the beer isn’t letting it. Typical palate of the style. Almost a hint of a peanut butter flavor to it at some level.... (cask hand-pull at Three Judges, Glasgow)
