2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - SEP 29, 2011
First tasted this in Blackfriers, Glasgow in December 2005. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale amber in colour with a thin creamy white head. Slight citric note in the short aroma. Good lacing and a thin mouthfeel. Pale malts give a weak malty base with lemon zest and tart grapefruit evident. Slight flavour of hop resins which fade too soon. Bitter sweet finish. Like a spring ale in style and ideal as a quick thirst quencher before moving on to better things.

Creamy white head atop a pale amber brew.
Good balance of hop flavour, aroma and bitterness; quite grassy and spicy, with pale malts and caramels. A bit lean but nice overall.

[cask at The Three Judges] Pale yellow with only a little head. Fruity apricot notes, faintly leafy hops, breadish french stick aromas. Light body with a little sweetness upfront and a dry finish which leaves more breadyness.
