3.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Serving: from tap at Rockfish Grill. (The version I had was from a cask.)
Aroma: none detected.
Appearance: almost no head. It was off-white and quickly disappeared. Fair lacing. Hazy, dark-red/light brown body.
Taste: moderately bitter, hoppy, initial flavor and lightly bitter finish. Long duration.
Palate: medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation.
Overall: nice hoppy flavor without being too bitter. Good beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Rockfish Grill / Anacortes Brewery, pours a dark golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, some herbal notes, and residual dextrose sweetness. Flavour is along the same lines, with the dextrose sweetness finishing it off. Not terrible, but the artificial sweetness is a bit off-putting.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Taphouse Grille, Seattle
Cloudy amber color. It has some malt and caramel flavor, but it’s rather vulgar. The distinctive trait of this beer is a very resiny hopping, maybe dirty, but with character, and with some musky aroma.
Rough and good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Rockfish Grill and Anacortes Brewery. Cool looking murky, yeasty, copper color fresh out of the cask. Thick, sticky head with dense small bubbles; love the way this thing looks. Aroma is big, fresh, floral hops; surprised how well the got that. Flavor is moderate hop bitterness with some good malt back this up. Does seem just a bit flat in the middle especially for a pretty strong brew, but very enjoyable. Finishes nicely bitter with good floral notes shining through. Seems like the brewer does IPAs much better than they do lagers. This was good even though I was wanting there to be a bit more to it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at brewpub. Copper-brown, thin head. Looks pretty good but meager aroma and body. Malt should be stronger I think. Grows more bitter, but still unbalanced. Tasty enough

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pint @ Rockfish. The only thing dark about this beer is the color. Essentially an IPA. A good IPA, but just an IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown color with tan foamage. Nice hoppy pine sap, floral aromas with dry black malt. Medium bodied with average co2. Big hoppy bitter pine sap, grapefruit flavors with dusty black malt, semi sweet chocolate to balance--very good Black IPA

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub/restaurant pouring up hazy dirty brown-ish copper with off white head. The aroma is pretty full with sweet malts suffering under the oppressive weight of pine and grapefruit hops. The taste is big bold pine resiny hops that I’m forced to chew to get down. There’s also a robust note or two of semi sweet grapefruit hop flavor providing a pleasing balance to the bitter pine hoppiness. I get some drying into the finish that pulls toward a sense of roasted malts feebly coming to the surface. This is hoppy goodness.
