On tap at Rockfish Grill. Aroma of burnt toast and woody earthy hops. Pours dark amber with a nice lasting head, some lace as well. Burnt toast, caramel, toffee, all with a nice lasting earthy bitterness that rides out nicely in the finish. Good stuff.

I had the "Cask Amber" but it seems to match this one? Pours hazy copper with sheets of white lace. Resinous, IPA-like nose. The hop influence clobbers the complexity of the regular Amber, and makes this beer very different from the tap version, but some buttery, nutty notes make it through the wall.

On tap in March 2006. Always like to stop in the Rockfish Grill when I’m in the area (which isn’t that often) and see what they’re trying out. This time they had an Imperial Amber available. Poured a hazy amber with solid waves of bubbles even after a bit of time. A mellow hop aroma with malt. Taste is a bit hoppy for an amber - I’d like to know what the IBU is for this beer. Flavor has notes of butterscotch, malt and slightly nutty. Alcohol is apparent. Interesting beer - like an amber crossed with a hoppy IPA.
