Draught No head, hazy orange. Extremely floral & grapey hops, lemony-fresh. Very bitter taste, on the verge of harsh; piney and some grapefruit. There’s a grapey - near vinous quality. Harsh bitterness is a bit of an impediment, but it keeps refreshing. Typical Westcoast IPA, just overdone.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy amber. Strong grapefruit aroma. Sweet with firm body. The massive hoppiness covers the syrupy mouthfeel well, and the bitterness it creates keeps lingering on. A solid IPA.

On Tap at Rockfish Slightly hazy light amber with smal head. Strong mostly citrusy hop aroma. The malts are robust enough to keep up and a nice IPa all in all. Very long lasting bitter finish.

GCBF. Pours a cloudy light gold. Aroma of fresh peaches, grapefruit. The peach and grapefruit are in the taste as well, very fresh tasting, nice malt balance. The kind of I.P.A. I’d like better access to. Oh well.

Very cloudy beige - first pull off the cask. Massive dry hop aroma, but different than the standard PNW fare....this one includes Simcoe for starters. The aroma is bright and fruity, evocative of peaches, papaya and light grapefruit. The body is lean with a bracing grapefruit bitterness, but then a late sweetness comes in. The standard for IPAs is so high in Washington state you can hardly go wrong.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2005 Tap at the brewery. Dry-hopped with Simcoe. Cloudy pale golden beer, thick white head. Sweet, fruity hop aroma, resinous and piny. Flavour is also quite good, sweet, but clean maltiness, nice fruity hops toward the finish. Lingering resinousness. Quite a nice Washington IPA. Tap at GCBF. Pale golden beer, thin white head. Very fresh, hoppy aroma. Flavour has light bitterness, some pale malt. Very grassy flavour over top of a light grapefruity note. 7/3/6/3/13

(Draft & Cask: Rockfish Grill & Anacortes Brewery in Anacortes, WA) Sampling both the standard draft and cask versions, I think the cask version is slightly better. Moderately bitter, grapefruit-flavored hops is dominant, and the pale malt shows presence mostly in the body, not the flavor. The cask version is just a bit more freshly hoppy, more grapefruity, perhaps a touch sweeter, but the differences are pretty miniscule. Light-to-medium bodied, a bit flat on the palate, and that’s the draft version. The draft version is a hazy, light golden color, but the cask version is several shades of gold darker, and a bit more cloudy as well. Naturally, the draft version is more heady, with off-white foam coating much of the top of the glass. Generic Pacific Northwest IPA that’s eminently drinkable, but fails to excite the senses.

Draught at the brewery
Rich, deep orane and clear appearance. Light carbonation. Very sharp and dry bitterness, very acidic. The body is light to moderate thickness, with a wonderful oily hop flavor and a very parched finish. Nose centers around acidic pine and grapefruit. A great PNW IPA.

A nice hoppy beer but was rather typical in that it didn't have much more than a hop taste. A nice bitter element though.
