Pours a dark brown tone with a thin head. The aroma is full of dark malts that are pleasantly fruity and a little tart. Light roasted malts in the flavor combine with some dark fruit and a touch of tartness. Seemingly pretty light bodied and thin.

Supper dark brown with light off white head. Aroma was malty and smokey, almost peaty. Flavour was burnt toast with some caramel malts. Tasty deceiving beer.

Draft @ Strange Brewfest 07: Pours a dark black/mahogany hue. No head or lacing. Nose of light roast, dark pickled cherry and a touch of toasty caramel. The flavor is sweet with the same roasted cherry note. Tart, balanced, "lagery". The finish is watery as is the mouthfeel.

Draft at Winter Beer Fest. Pours a blackish brown with a tan head. This beer sorta took me by surprise. The taste is huge with nuts, chocolate, caramel, a trace of coffee and smoke. A lot tastier than any other Schwarzbier I’ve tried.

Draught at the brewpub. Near black. Roasty malt aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. Tarry finish. There’s some interesting nuances underneath, but it’s too sweet and a little too hard in the mouthfeel for me to get down there and enjoy them.
