On tap at the brewpub. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with an off-white ring of foam. Peach and pine aroma. Full body. Chewy taste of caramel and butterscotch. Dry pine and citrus finish.

Murky red amber with a little head. SPicy and bitter sweet. Hop profile ranges from hints of soap to tons of bitter citrus and pine. Thick but not cloying.

On tap at BBP. Dark amber small head. Very sweet malty beer with moderate citrus hops. Alcohol isn’t hidden at all in this one...really enjoyed this.

Draft at brewpub in March 2006. Pours a hazy amber with a sweet, syrupy and malty aroma. Flavors are similar to the aroma. There is some hints of butterscotch and citrus. The malt is nicely balanced. Good traditional barleywine and very drinkable.

Hazy bright amber. Thick, malty aroma with light peachy notes in a classic pale barley wine aroma. Strong alcohol and massive malt. Young but balanced - certainly more so than my first sample of this back in January, which was basically malt syrup. Warming, peachy. Looks like this will continue to improve for a year or two.

Draught 05’ vintage @ Brouwer’s Café during Hard Liver 2006: Dirty caramel, moderate to large foamy head, very nice lacing. Nose of alcohol, slight hop, otherwise fairly non-descript. Fairly heavy citrus rind on the tongue, low malt profile, with alcohol not being as strong as suggested by the nose. Does trailer off with a bit of alcohol heat tho. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Finish is fairly hot... alcohol seems to have become too apparent at this stage.   Simmer down naw!

2005 vintage at the HardLiver BW fest. A decent sized tan head sits atop of this medium amber colored Barlewine. Fairly clear, medium bodied. Alcohol is restrained and malt seems to dominate the flavor/aroma. Some bits of floral hop in the nose. Fairly tasty.

2005 Vintage - Hazy amber appearance, with a fluffy creamy head. Served slightly too cold to pick up major aromatic notes. Sweet bready cereal malts. A definite malty presence and barely detectable hop presence. Candi sugar, cotton candy sweetness, and a very sweet hoppy aftertaste that lingers very long on the palate.

Fairly sraight-forward barley wine (the sticky/sweet/alchohol variety). Big chewy body yields sticky molasses, definitive woodiness, and the light burn of alchohol. Very flat beer - as is typical of the style. There is a toasted malt underlying everything here, giving the flavor a more defined shape.

Hard Liver 2005
Weird metallic and burnt hops in the nose, some burnt grains as well, but covered by a light cherry and fruit presence. Nicely balanced, very drinkable, with a sweet and light hop flavor. No off-flavors. Nothing killer, just plain drinkable even if it doesn’t set any records.
