Sweet barley, rice, red licorice aroma. Brown in color. Barley in the flavor and besides that it is just sweet and syrupy. The only beer I had that was not watery.

18-Jan-08 (Draft: 2008 Great Alaskan Beer and Barley Wine Festival in Anchorage, AK) Very aromatic nose of rich, sweet, caramely malts and background sherry that indicates possibly aging. Mimicking the aroma, the flavor is prototypical for a big, delicious barley wine: the malt is sweet and caramely in the foreground and is backed by a strong fruitiness and mild hop bitterness for a bit of balance in the finish. Full-bodied, gently carbonated and smooth on the palate, but not cloying. Dark amber to light brown in color and hazy. The tall, tan head holds a wide, bubbly ring and filmy layer. This is really excellent. If there weren’t a lot more beers to try at this festival, I’d go back for seconds!

Tap at uber. Dark red/auburn pour with a nice fluffy head. Lots of malt on the nose, caramel, brown sugar, and some earthy floral hops too. The flavor is a nice mix of sweetness with brown sugar, some dark fruits, and a good kick of bitter floral hops. Lots of lingering resins. A nice barley wine.

Draft @ Uber. Dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, alcohol, and malt. Taste is maple syrup, brown sugar, malt, and light alcohol. Very sticky mouthfeel.
