Draft at the brewpub. Nitro. Shocked to say it actually improved the beer, AFAIK (haven’t tried this one otherwise, but the addition of nitro per se was actually *pleasant* here. Dunno how they do it.). Black. Thick, moussy, short-lived surging head with big sheets of lace. Very mild nose of chocolate and roast and maybe a bit of CO2 (?). Beautiful rich, soft body with gentle carb. Thick molasses, chocolate, and roast on the mid-palate. Nice resiny hop finish.

On tap. Pours dark brown with minimal head. Nose is dry and roasty, weakish. Taste is more impressive. Smooth and dry with roasted coffee, dark chocolate and black malts, along with some oaty bitterness. Pretty good stout and easy to drink.

Here is another Northwest nitro stout that surpasses usual expectiations - reminds me of the LaConner nitro Imperial Stout. Wonderfully creamy head, thicker than latte foam and almost as milky. Sweet aroma, soft chocolate and roasted malts - with all that cream it reminds a bit of chocolate milk. I usually like to play grown-up and cast off these sweet beers as lacking depth, but this beer is just wonderfully crafted. The insatiable creaminess lays a smooth foundation for the mild roasted malt and smooth chocolate to flow on, sliding around all parts of the tongue on down the throat with ease. A slight bitterness in the malt is a slight distraction in the flavor, but despite this the palate here is sheer perfection. A dessert beer for sure - ends the evening wonderfully.

A nice stout. Black body with a nice tan head. Taste was sweet and roasted with a nice creamy finish. Lacks that extra punch of the good stouts though.
