Bottle Rehills Newcastle. Pours a fine, foaming red, lovely pillowy head. Deep amber colour, grassy and bready aroma with a very faint yeast background. Big biscuit and berries taste, lovely soft palate, with a dry finish, late blackcurrant, with a slightly medicinal twist right at the end. Great stuff.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at The Ale House, Chelmsford. Billed as a ’Hybrid American Amber’, it pours a deep amber colour with a fairly large white head. Lovely hoppy aroma akin to American Pale Ale with caramel, malt and fruit. Very smooth, with a bittersweet finish. Slightly creamy texture, average/right carbonation, medium body. Much enjoyed.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Interesting little 330ml bottle. Hazy burnt orange shade with tonnes of head. Aroma is a bit muted but nicely grassy and piney. Caramel malt, citrus, berries, plus a long lingering hop bitterness. Not a whole lot of complexity, but has a refreshing intensity to it.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Amber brown, muddy water with a white, thin, disappoint ring of a head. Smells of toasted malt, nice hops, with caramel and pine. Medium thin body. Tastes of malt, toasted malt, with a dry roasted, dark malt finish. It’s ok. Seems a bit bland.
