3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned handpump Mr Foleys Leeds 01/05/13. As muddy brown as it’s possible to be. There’s unfined and then there’s sludge. It does improve from there and if you were drinking it blind it’s enjoyable although difficult to place. Lemony hoppy fruitiness in the nose. Smoky roasty and bitter in the mouth with chocolate. Quite the oddity. Ugly as it gets but nice nough to drink. Stylistically mixed up.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask @ Tilleys, Newcastle. The pour’s a soupy, hazy light brown with a creamy tan head. The nose is strong smoked malt, rich chocolate cake. Earthy smoked ham, wood, a touch of singed grass. The taste is much the same. Plenty of roasted malts. Smokey flavors. Chocolate cake, a bit of grit and dirt. Light body, fine carbonation. Overall, a decent effort, if a bit ragged. Nothing too crazy.
