Bottle from Ales by Mail. Pours black with a big creamy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla and coffee. Smooth & creamy mouthfeel. Taste is a good mix of coffee and chocolate, delicious balanced, lingering roasty aftertaste. Very good.

Bottle from Bier Huis, Ossett. Mahogany colour. Thin, coffee coloured head. Aroma is Pontefract cakes, ripe vine fruit. Roast coffee beans, caramel and a hint of vanilla. Just enough chew to the body. Long dry, but fruity finish. Lovely beer.

Poured a dark brown, pretty much oily black with a dense light brown head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee and brown sugars. Big roasted malt flavours with prunes and fruit cake. Ends with a mix of some sweet vanilla and bitter coffee.

Tap @ craft beer co clerkenwell, small sample. Dark color, short head. Aroma of roasted malts, hint of coffee, chocolate. Medium bitter, quite malty. Good balance, good stuff.

Pours pitch black with a small head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, roasted malts, hints of chocolate and vanilla. Taste is smooth, slightly fruity with loads of coffee, some roastiness, hints of chocolate and vanilla. Finish is oily, slightly roasty with notes of coffee and dark fruits. Quite balanced and tasty coffee stout.

Pours black color with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, some roasted malts, faint coffee notes, hops and subtle wooden notes. Flavor of roasted malts, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, mild hop notes, wood and faint vanilla. Some malty harshness on the palate, smooth finish though, a bit dry too. Very nice.

Black with a thin tan head that dissipates edgeward.
Nose is roast malt, sugars, light coffee.
Taste comprises a good shot of espresso, dark malts, light cocoa, brown sugar, hoppy backnotes.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation, charred roasty finish.
