COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A quaffable, well-balanced red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup.

Pours a dark coppery color, clear, topped with a decently sized beige colored head. Mild malty aroma with prominent caramel notes and some very mild nutty aroma. Taste is sweet, caramel notes and very little bitterness. Some spices in the finish. Very gentle but very tasty.

Seen the somehow sweetish aroma, I was expecting a sweet red-brown brew. But Anchor knows to surprise you. The character is dominated by the hops, dry and pure. The sweetnes builds the side note, well detectable but devoted to the hops. Some tannine hints rounds it up. I like this. This brew surprises me, it’s brewed with maple syrup, in deed. But the maple sugars are well transformed, the overall character is bitter dry and the maple still gives some extra taste notes. Well done!

Pour on tap at Beer House, dark reddish brown pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, doughy bread, some biscuit, toffee, hints of slight maple but pretty hidden, touch of spice. Taste was a mix of biscuit, caramel, toffee, some maple, touch of vanilla, finishing slightly sweet, slightly spicy.

Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [171214]
Dark amber, slight haze, frothy off white head, good lacing
Aroma of fruity malts, soft orange, soft pine, fruity caramel, soft sweet fruits
Taste of fruity juicy caramel, soft orange, soft pine hop, male syrup not noticeable but probably contributing to the fruity malts, quite complex, tasty,...OK there is some juicy syrup in here...I like this
Palate - Medium carb and body, soft sweet, nice sweet fruity malts. Finish as main flavour, more juicy sweet malts
Overall - Really nice, better than expected and pleasant to drink.

Clear red-orange beer with a thick, foamy head and a scent of sharp hop with light maple syrup. The sharp hops, caramel and mellow maple syrup make for a really nicely blended and very drinkable beer. Body and aftertaste are ever so slightly watery but that’s the only real criticism I have.

Bottle BB July 2016. Hazy dark orange or brown, small foamy off-white head, lightly sparkling. Aroma is very sweet with maple, leaves, toffee. Body is medium to light, very foamy in the mouth, soft carbonation. Taste is toffee apple, sweet and malty, slightly dry. Very one-dimensional and over-sweet. Not my sort of thing.

Very nice clear maple pour with a thin white lace. Hop aroma. Nice hop flavour. Settles to a smooth maple finish. Nice beer. Enjoyable ale.

Bottle. Light to moderate bread, cookie and roasted for the malt, light cooked orange and dough for the hops and yeast, with date, alcohol, and maple syrup if you look for it. Head is average size, frothy, beige with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is medium tan-ish amber. Flavor starts moderately aciidc, and finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, slick, with a lively carbonation. A great tasting and easy drinking Amber Ale.

On tap at Twisted Jimmys. Very mild sweet nose, can’t really smell maple. Nutty with some caramel. Dark amber hazy with thin off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts moderately sweet with caramel, light nutty notes, and light bitter hop finish. Not much going on here, middle of the road amber.
