COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A quaffable, well-balanced red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market, Kensington, London. A hazy orange/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Malty, caramel, maple syrup aroma. Tastes similar, malty, caramel, maple syrup with a slight bitterness. Nice one from the Anchor chaps.

bottle pour..looks more like a dipa than a red ale..nose is interesting with the maple in the back and some spices as well..mouthfeel is different than anticipated..hoppier than expected which does kind of take over..taste is slightly reminiscent of a flavor profile from that initial blast of wintergreen gum..and perhaps ricola also...ok offering..

Heldere oranje koper kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt fruitig, hop, honing. Smaakt bitterzoet, honing. Iets bittere afdronk.

The head is ok, body amber-brown, It smells sweet, bit syrupy, chestnut. The taste is bitter-sugary, malty-interesting. In the aftertaste it gets more syrupy by the time. Exept some bitterness not so hoppy, but nice and interesting malty-sugary taste. Ok, but I expect usually more from Anchor beers.

Hazy, yet crisp amber coloured body with a very thin, oily, dense and almost nitrogenated looking light tan head. Aroma of alcohol, nuts, earth, caramel and much more malt than anything else - strong, yet fairly nice smelling. Light to Medium-bodied; Rich, dense alcohol notes up front with some light spices, caramel and a pungent earthy and nutty bitterness show on the back end. Aftertaste shows a strong bitter earthy flavour and some citrus and piney hop notes which are very noticeable right at the end. Overall, an earthy and biting beer with some good flavours, but strong flavours to deal with to get the nice bite. I sampled this anchor-style twelve ounce bottle purchased from Trader Joe’s in Falls Church (Bailey’s Crossroads), Virginia on 19-September-2014 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Washington on 14-November-2014.

Bottle. Pours amber red with a white head. Aroma: walnut, syrup, wet earth, sweat. Taste: caramel, walnut, chestnut, pine, wet leaves, vanilla, citrus, cinnamon. Moderate sweet, moderate light bitterness, soft carbonation. Sweetish but with a nice hoppy character.

average frothy (1st) creamy (2nd) offwhite head. good lacing. mostly diminishing. hazy average-density dark orangeish-amber body. aroma: heavy malt, moderate hoppy, grass and orange. if: light sweet moderate bitter. ff: light sweet heavy bitter; long duration. palate: light medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, metallic finish. 35 s

Bottle- pours hazy amber, lots of wispy off white head and lacing. Nose is subtle, brown sugar, earth malts, mild hops. Lots of the same on the palate, dry and bitter with lasting maple sweetness and malt backing. Nice fall beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear bronze with a large beige head. The aroma is a bit on the sweet side and the syrup shows a bit. There is some rough earthiness, cream and woodiness. It has a medium body that’s a bit rough and has soft carbonation. The flavor begins with amber ale toastiness, woody/earthy hops, pine, hints of maple and some spice. The finish is dry and woody. Good.
