A quaffable, well-balanced red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup.

Bottled. Pours a slightly hazy red-amber with a decent foamy, light brown head. The maple syrup aroma is clear, but there are piney hops and tropical fruit too. The initial flavours are sweet, with maple syrup and tropical fruit again. The dry finish prevents it from being cloying and it hides the relatively high ABV well. Very good.

Pours a nice clear amber, with long lasting tan head. Aroma of hops, with notes of malt. Taste is hoppier than I expected. Not my favorite Amber. Thumbs sideways.

Autumny amber beer from Anchor with stable, moussy, yellowish white head and a pretty, pure amber colour with light haze and vivid fizz. Perfumey nose with impressions of freshly cut grapefruit, soap, peanuts, biscuit, redcurrant, cheese, rust (probably from oxidation already setting in) and indeed a subtle hint of maple syrup. Dried fruits in the mouth, strong carbo as expected, minerally, some citrussy acidity, quickly turning bitter, a peppery and spicy hop bitterness which only increases towards the end and ensures a long, dry finish along with nutty, toasted malts and a subtly sweetish touch of the maple syrup. Relatively simple but pleasant and well-balanced beer, bearing Anchor’s quality signature.

Bottle from Seoul Plaza. Aroma malty, caramel, toffee, kind of British style. Also loads of fruity, resiny hops. Lightly hazy reddish amber colour, stable. Taste is rather hoppy, above moderate bitterness, resiny citrusy flavour, also lots of caramel. Nicely balanced, flavourful, tasty. Easily drinkable. Good one. Dry hoppy finish.

Bottle from Whole Foods, Piccadilly. It pours clear red-amber with a decent off-white head. The nose is smooth, sweet maple syrup, brown bread, caramel digestive biscuits, leaf and pine. The taste is bitter-sweet, woody, earth, leather, varnish, maple syrup, caramel, resin, light alcohol sting and light spice with a rather dry, earthy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good hit of bitterness. Decent stuff.
