A quaffable, well-balanced red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2014 Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Slightly cloudy copper-amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, piney hops and slight maple. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours copper with a beautiful head. Aroma: flowers, a sweet hint of maple syrup and herbs. Taste: pretty herbish and dry, with a bit of sweetness (from the syrup, I suppose). Again a very good and elegant beer from Anchor.

Bottle at Scion. Poured a dark ruby amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma was lots of sweet caramel notes, sweet maple character. Flavor was light malt, some nutty notes and maple.

Bottle from Wholefoods Piccadilly. Pours rusty red/orange in the glass, thin off white head. Nose is toffee and caramel, maple syrup, earthy hop, ale fruity, quite a lot of hop bitter in there too. Taste is sharp and tangy hop, toffee and caramel, earthy hop, maple syrup, boiled sweet. It’s a nice beer. Has that classic caramel Anchor malt character balanced with a bit of bitter hop.

Pretty happy red with a low enough maple addition to not take away from this. Light bitter finish. Pours amber with good head and lacing. Thanks to radagast. Bottle at scion.

A good amber. Substantial hop aroma aroma and dry flavor of hops and grain. Dry all around really, especially in the finish. Nice copper color and a substantial head. More of a pale ale really.

12oz bottle shared. Poured a medium orange with off white head. Minor lacing down the sides of the glass. Aroma is medium to heavy malt and hops and caramel. For an amber ale this has a nice hop bite to it. Quite malty on the front end. Overall pretty solid amber.

From bottle. Clear amber color. Aroma is citrus hoppiness and crystalized maple. Taste is tart citrus like grapefruit and a lot of caramel and maple malts. Both nicely bitter and sweet.

Pours a brilliantly clear, deep amber color; modest head formation (creamy texture, off-white); tight lacing. A fruit-forward, slightly syrupy aroma: a lot of candied sweetness, plus ripe red fruits; a light dose of earthy hops, but mostly focused on the sweet parts; I can’t say I’d immediately peg this as maple syrup from the nose. Medium body or a touch higher; medium-high, fine-bubbled CO2; there’s a tinge of warming alcohol here, at least when it warms; following the nose, plenty of red fruits, a maple syrup/slightly caramelized sweetness, and a little more bitterness than was suggested by the aroma.

Butelka 0.33L.
Wygląd: Miedziane, klarowne z iskrą. Piana obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, w kolorze ecru. Dość trwała i firankuje.
Aromat: Słodki, pieczone jabłko, syrop klonowy, karmel, pieczywa, cytrusy, mango i minimalnie alkoholowy.
Smak: Przypieczone ciasto, toffee, karmel, podpalany cukier, ciemne pieczywo a bardziej skórka przypalona ciemnego pieczywa, lekko metaliczne. Goryczka niska+, lekko wyczuwalny alkohol, szczególnie w posmaku.
Odczucie: Ciało lekko poniżej średniego, nasycenie CO2 średnie do wysokiego, faktura kremowa z suchym/wytrawnym finiszem.
Całość: Całkiem fajne red/amber ale, ale trochę za bardzo alkoholowe i lekko metaliczne.
