A quaffable, well-balanced red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Copper with a small off-white head that lingers. Grassy, woody hop aromas on the nose with some mildly sweet malt noticeable. Taste is well-balanced with a hint of maple sweetness along with more grassy hops. Finish is lightly bitter with some toasted pecan notes.

Comparing to maple mistress. Falls short of that, but not bad. Some maple taste. Ashy aftertaste.

Pours an amber color with foamy off white head. Notes of burnt bread, caramel, and faint orange citrus hops. Light sweetness.

Amber, slightly cloudy, nice off white dense head. Minimal nose. Hoppy, dry, mild malt profile. This looks like a great beer but I was expecting a bit more malt here.

Bottle - Clear, deep reddish colour, creamy beige head with pretty good durablity. Sweet malty and nutty nose, nice resinous hop aromas with some citrus. Taste is too sweet for me, but it has some kind of balance. Fine caramel, toasted nuts, red berries and honey taste. Medium body, low carbonation, slightly dry finish with some smooth hoppy notes. Texture is too sticky for me. Not a usual amber ale, but its definetly worth trying.

Deep copper, clear, persistent beige head. Soft, bready malt with toasty and nutty notes. Maple is extremely subtle. Firm bitterness and toasty malt dry out the finish. Resiny hop flavor. Clean.

Bottle. A: Dark copper color with a creme color head. N: Pine, spruce, some caramel and toffee, white peppercorn, earth and damp maple leaves. T: Bitter and decently sweet. M: Medium-light body, foamy, slightly prickly carbonation, no alcohol presence. O: A very good amber ale that’s broaching IRA territory. This goes very well with fall, though I have to admit to desiring a bit more maple character than is present.

DATE TASTED: September 20, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Brew at the Zoo pint... OCCASION: Toasting the Browns’ first win and the incredible weather that makes one fall in love with Autumn... APPEARANCE: bubbles cascade upwards in a sienna body that bolsters a nicely laced, slightly dirty white head that thickens to a powerful creaminess... AROMA: an intriguing, perfumed allure begins the profile; the Cascade or Centennial bring the West Coast pine and citrus so indicative of Anchor...the malty sweetness brings with it the label’s promise, though "a hint" is surprisingly accurate... PALATE: smooth, medium-bodied but finishing abruptly; a bit dry at the finish too...overall, drinkable, yes... TASTE: the caramel malts are sweetly in the fore, while each exhale delivers a suggestion of sweet syrup; nice subtle nuttiness melds with the citrus to balance the profile into a malt-leaning, drinkable pint...OVERALL: The maple is so subtle, one wonders if a label-less taste test might not lose it in the experience... as it is, reasonably flavorful, with a sweetness not found in the usual amber ale...
