COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg and bottle: Filtered.
First brewed in 2005.
Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Bottle. Pours deep dark amber with a 2 finger creamy light tan head that leaves very nice lacing. The nose is caramel, light chocolate and dark fruits. The taste is caramel malt, light spice, a touch of ashy cocoa, tobacco and some hops in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Decent Bock. I like how the hops cut some of the sweetness out that is usually associated with the style

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours clear burgundy with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is caramel with an earthiness (hops?) and that classic, immediately-identifiable Anchor breadiness. Flavor is very mellow with a nice bready sweetness, caramel, molasses, earth, creamy light mousse, and red fruits. Lots of notes here, body is thin but not watery enough to dilute the nice flavor profile. This has a lot more going on than other ubiquitous bocks (I’m looking at you SN Glissade and Shiner). Liked it quite a bit.

Bottle. Poured a darker amber, brownish color with a nice two finger creamy white head. Aroma was cereal, fruits, and malts. Flavor was brown sugar, molasses, and malts. Not a bad beer. Very good actually. A great spring beer.

Bottle. Pours a deep cloudy dark brown body with a ruby hue and a big frothy tan head with little retention. Really interesting, complex aroma of herbs and spices, plums, syrupy, cloves, cough medicine. I kinda like it but don’t really understand. Flavor has some sweet caramel, raisin, licorice. Medium bodied, somewhat lively, tingly mouthfeel. There is a bit of a dishsoap background. Overall really enjoyable.

~Carmel and biscuit malts in aroma, some raisin. ~Pours a dark clear reddish black brown with small brown head. ~Raisin, malty flavor, some bitterness, but not hoppy, good flavor, residual sweetness. ~med body, med CO2, sweet balanced finish. ~Great bock. Very enjoyable. Maybe my favorite bock.

12 oz bottle. Pours brown with off white head. A very nice malty, bready beer with some caramel and a little nuttiness. Enjoyable and could definitely drink more than one.

Bottle. This has been in the cellar for about a year, though I had no real intention of aging it. It’s a beautiful black brown with a thick, robust tan head. Looks wonderful. Aroma of smoke, raisin, molasses, pine, grassy hops. Mouthfeel is full and slick. Flavour is bready with lots of fruit, especially grape and raisin with chocolate, smoke, and lightly bitter hops in the finish.

Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Caramel chocolate and mild banana aroma and taste with a nice creamy palate.
