COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg and bottle: Filtered.
First brewed in 2005.
Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Dark brown. A frothy, active head leaves a glass-coating but temporary lace. Aroma has plenty of caramel, which clashes a bit with some herbal tendencies in it. Flavor blends dusty earth, caramel, and nut into a pleasing harmony. A hint of chocolate. Slightly lactic. Medium body and carbonations. Slightly tannic. Would drink again.

Dark translucent brown. Aroma is a bit nutty with some caramel, malt and sweetness. Rich and full of chocolate malts, caramel and some fruit. A little thinner and drier than I expected, but pretty good.

A medium-bodied, amber brew with prunes and roasted malts on the nose. Its big character suggests cherries, raisins, hazelnut, and coffee with a sweet, hoppy finish and light mouthfeel.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Glen Allen, VA. Pours a clear reddish brown color witha large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Dark malty aroma with notes of raisin and caramel. Taste is leafy, slightly metallic hops, green apple, raisin and light maltiness. Medium bodied.

A brown beer with a big head. Aroma was nutty. The taste was nutty, almost creamy, very malty, very smooth with a slight tobacco taste at the end.

330mL Bottle. Pours dark with heavy head. Sweet and dark,. Decent fun beer to drink but very underwhelming as a bock.

This is my first Bock in a many years. It is an Anchor beer product. The head frothed over the glass. The dark beer was full of flavor. It was a pleasure to drink. The beer was a deep dark brown with a sweet finish.

Bottle. A nearly black pour, with a tan head that has impressive lacing. Stewed fruits and molasses on the nose. Flavours of chocolate and stewed fruits. Well balanced. Delicious!
