Commercial Description:
Keg and bottle: Filtered.
First brewed in 2005.
Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a tan head. On the nose I got liquorice, some chocolate and roasted malts. Promising! Too thin-bodied with some sweetness. Liquorice, molasses and roasted malts. I found the finish to be a bit weak

Provided by ilovedarkbeer at his latest tasting. Aroma is very heavy on coffee malts with a bit of clove and maybe even some menthol (and a bit of metal). Creamy, light brown head with good lacing. Nearly black in color. Taste is watery upfront with a salty, coffee, malty finish. Some alcohol.

Nose is nice roasted coffe and I think I detect some sort of minty note. Pours a black brown color with a decent sized tan head. Tastes like caramel, coffee, and finishes with a bit of semi sweet chocolate. Not amazing but my first dunkler bock, and I have to say I did enjoy it.

Bottle. Pour is a thin, yet dark and leathery brown with a massive three or four finger tan head. As the head dies back I’m treated to some dark grain aromas with a touch of sweetness and some chocolate. Flavor is a bit off... maybe I got a bad bottle, but I picked up a small touch of sourness that mixes with the chocolate/toffee and roastiness.

Draught at Waterfront. Dark mahogany with a thin frothy cream colored head. Aroma and flavor of brown sugar and grainy malts, with a layer of butterscotch. Nice touch of roastiness therein and not overly sweet. OK.

Quite delicious. Its got a medium bodied flavor of malt and low amount of hops. Its characters feels like a true German Bock, Kudos!!

The aroma is like cola, malt, yeast, and leaves. The appearance is dark brown with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s pretty good beer.
