| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 17, 2007 This beer had that weird marshmellowy aroma and taste that I have found in a few beers during my beer drinking adventures. Another one that had it that stands out the most is alesmiths ipa. Anyways pour was a dark brown almost black color with huge foamy off white head. Aroma was great, caramel, malts, dark fruits, raisins, big roastiness. Flavor was similar but the marshmellow thing was too potent, as I’ve stated before its not a bad trait, just weird for a beer. The caramel flavor mixed extremely well with the figgy raisin taste. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 11, 2007 From the cryptic bottling code on back, I believe this was packaged in December, 2006. Pours a deep black with a solid, one-finger tan head. Caramel and raisins, sweet chocolate and plums rise from the tulip. Very nice and complex aroma for a fairly small beer. The body is medium with chewy carbonation. It explodes with bittersweet chocolate, fudge, raisans, bourbony plums, chocolate-covered cherries, the list goes on. This one really surprised me. Great stuff. Theis (3651), Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2007 Bottle, courtesy of kmweaver, poured into a dimpled mug. Pours a deep burgundy brown (garnet when held to the light) with a creamy, pitted, tan head that slowly diminishes. The aroma is of Raisinets, light malted milk, Root Beer Barrels (the hard candy). and a faint, fruity hop note. Medium-bodied and slick with a soft mouthfeel that quickly asserts its carbonation upon swallowing, wrapping your tongue in a cascade of tiny bubbles. The finish is quick with just a hint of hop bitterness and metal coming through. The flavor is surprisingly more complex than the nose. Sweet chocolate notes precede peat, weak coffee and dark fruit notes followed by a hint of the hops and metal mentioned above. This is my first beer of this style, and it won’t be my last. Unfortunately, this is the one offering from Anchor that cannot be acquired locally. Much thanks again, Ken. JorisPPattyn (5163), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Huge dark yellow-cream head, totally stable, over ruby-shot, near black-beer. Very nicely hopped, with a background smell of caramel syrup. Bitter tinted cake-like sweet beer, very un-Bock-like hops, tannines, chocolate in the finish. Very full-bodied, chewy, warming. Very nice American Strong ale. A Bock? And 5.5% ???? - can’t believe it. lamas (715), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Bottle. Bottled on: 03/19/07. A deep mahogany pour with a thick and fluffy light-mocha head that leaves rings of lace. A nutty, malty aroma that features some chocolate and hints of rye bread. Medium-bodied. Starts with a good deal of caramel malts and Red Delicious apples. Finishes toasty with some cocoa and raisins. Not too shabby.
