A sweet aroma with malt, strong molasses, and faint hops. Sweet malt flavor with molasses hints that quickly switches to a slightly dry, almost imperceptibly bitter hop character rather quickly. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA

I tried this beer on August 21, 2007 at the ’Beer Bistro’ in Toronto. The beer poured dark brown into a tulip glass with a thin brownish head. The aroma was malty with hints of nuts and caramel. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with sharp carbonation. The flavour was malty with hints of chocolate and caramel. Skyview (4018), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 21, 2007 Picked up a six-pack at Woodman’s in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear cherry cola brown brew with a creamy beige head that slowly dissolves to a fine film and ring. Aroma of roasted dark malt, molasses, some coffee and dark pitted fruits. Taste is medium to full bodied, very light carbonation with a smoked molasses and dry grain flavor. Finish is slightly dry, toasted malt with a dry dark berry aftertaste. Almost could fool me as a porter than a dunkler bock. csbosox (1079), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 15, 2007 12oz bottle served in an english pint. Molasses, chocolate, mild dark fruits, cream, and earthy hops in the aroma. Dark red/bronze color with a mocha head. Flavor is rich malt, cocoa, molasses, cream, mild smoke and mild wood followed by mild roast, cream and earthy hops in the finish. Nice mouthfeel, seems substantial, but still easy to drink. Well done Anchor! alexsdad06 (1080), Ohio, USA
