Keg and bottle: Filtered.
First brewed in 2005.
Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Draft at the local tonight with dinner. appearance number is somewhat skewed since it arrived in my ceramic mug from the mug club. The head was nice and foamy though. I was expecting a bit more nuttiness in the nose but recieved a fair portion of caramel. Body is full and rich. Chocolate malts with a sprinkling of instant hot chocolate greet the tounge and surround it with plentiful indulgance. A crisp dry finish offsets the buffalo chicken sangwich nicely.

Poured a dark brown, almost like a porter, with a tan head. Seemed somewhat thin. Heavy malt notes throughout. mostly dark cocoa and some bread notes. A nice dryness throughout. Good.

Dark brown/ruby red color, thick off-white head. The aroma is incredible, a mix of dark fruits, cherries, chocolate, and sweet malt. The flavor is roughly the same as the aroma, a nice mixture of dark fruits and chocolate. The finish is sweet, but is then balanced by a slight hoppyness. Excellent bock overall.

Bottle thanks to mmm///beer. Pours a beautiful dark red color with a large brown head. There is lots of brown in the body, mixed with the redness it almost seems like purple. The aroma is great; sweet berries, chocolates, toasted malts, and some sweeter candy notes. The flavor is very complex and nice; tons of fruit upfront, sour cherries, strawberry and others. A rich chocolate and brown sugar follow, and some light coffee in the finish. Light body and a somewhat easygoing beer. Very nice.

This reddish-brown ale poured with a decent tan head and a malty aroma. The flavor is caramel malt with a bit of smokiness and carbonation. This is a well-crafted session beer for those who enjoy a dark one.

Pours very dark ruby brown with a thick and creamy finger of tan head that lingered. Aroma is mostly chocolate and lightly roasted malts. Body is smooth and lets through a very sweet beer that again is chocolatey with some prune undertones and a slight hop and roasted malt bitterness for balance.
