frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA May 17, 2007 Poured a deep mahogany body beneath a small, khaki head. Dark fruit aroma (prunes & raisins) with a spiced character and mild roastiness. Light terps emerge late. Dark fruity flavor with a sharpness on the tongue that leads the way to an otherwise fluffy moouthfeel. Some coffee notes join in the finish and linger. For a beer brewed "in celebration of the arrival of spring," this goat is quite a different animal than the other Maibocks you’re likely to run into.

MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 16, 2007 Bottle from State Line, Thanks Dennis Bell. Nice dark pour with sweet roast aroma. Roasted toffee taste with a dry finish. This is apretty good brew. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England May 16, 2007 A Mes rate:
Bottle from Systembolaget Hansacompagniet in Malmö. Overly roasty and quite sweet. Nose is actually quite good with the barley and sweetness. Flavour is bland and pretty average truth be told. A little sticky in the palate. Whatever. CEZ (369), Milano, Italy May 15, 2007 Very dark body and beige tall head. Coffee and floral aroma with an alcohol note in the background. Dark and sweet caramel, immediately followede by black cocoa, burnt grains and hops tanginess. Smooth, dry and drinkable. Another success from Anchor. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA May 14, 2007 pours a very dark caramel color with an impressive four finger fluffy light brown head. aroma is a nice blend of barley malt, and wheat malt with a little hops mixed in with the flavors of coffee and chocolate. has a light to medium body with great lacing and a touch of carbonation. flavor is barley malt and wheat malt, it has some coffee and chocolate characteristics and has a touch of hops in the end. has a malty mouth-feel to it and this is probably one of the best bocks i have had to date. has a small alcohol aroma as it warms and a little caramel aroma and flavor as well. it is a little sticky on the lips and has a dry hop aftertaste along with coffee and chocolate. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA May 13, 2007 overall impression is lacking, but dig abit deeper and it shows sum promise...pours a dark ruby brown...low head..some promising lacing...smell is actually quite fine...taste is damn muddled, no balance..aftertaste for a bock is frightening...needs more taste, more sweetness, maybe even more hops..but it REALLY needs more alcohol too... a good beer but overall abit disappointing! screwball (796), Motala, Sweden May 11, 2007 Dark dakrk red-brownish body with a begie head. There is nice citrus hops in the aroma. Flavor brings coffe, dark roasted malt and hops. Maybe to thin. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 10, 2007 A small beige ring settles on top of a clear dark-ruby body. Aroma and taste is mainly raisins dipped in molasses. Raisins take over the molasses as the beer warms up. A little floury touch. Faint floral hops in the finish. The beer is very simple but could be quite effective if it wasn’t for the lacking body. A bit sticky and airy with a sparse carbonation. The end-result the type of nice but generic bock you get in half the of the USA brewpubs. As effective but also as innovative as a doorstop.
