COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg and bottle: Filtered.
First brewed in 2005.
Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Dark in color and the aroma is nice and malty. Flavor is nice and malty but a slight sourness detectable. Decent

A dark brown / amber color with a nice light tan head. Aroma is malts, light roast and cream. Flavor is very bold. Caramel malts, molasses, maybe some black licorice. The mouthfeel was just a bit light but still a very good beer overall.

(Bottle from Systembolaget) Clear red color, lasting fluffy tan to brown head. Caramelly sweet scnet. Sweet raissin and some smoke taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Poured a deep mahogany body beneath a small, khaki head. Dark fruit aroma (prunes & raisins) with a spiced character and mild roastiness. Light terps emerge late. Dark fruity flavor with a sharpness on the tongue that leads the way to an otherwise fluffy moouthfeel. Some coffee notes join in the finish and linger. For a beer brewed "in celebration of the arrival of spring," this goat is quite a different animal than the other Maibocks you’re likely to run into.

A Mes rate: Bottle from Systembolaget Hansacompagniet in Malmö. Overly roasty and quite sweet. Nose is actually quite good with the barley and sweetness. Flavour is bland and pretty average truth be told. A little sticky in the palate. Whatever.

Very dark body and beige tall head. Coffee and floral aroma with an alcohol note in the background. Dark and sweet caramel, immediately followede by black cocoa, burnt grains and hops tanginess. Smooth, dry and drinkable. Another success from Anchor.

pours a very dark caramel color with an impressive four finger fluffy light brown head. aroma is a nice blend of barley malt, and wheat malt with a little hops mixed in with the flavors of coffee and chocolate. has a light to medium body with great lacing and a touch of carbonation. flavor is barley malt and wheat malt, it has some coffee and chocolate characteristics and has a touch of hops in the end. has a malty mouth-feel to it and this is probably one of the best bocks i have had to date. has a small alcohol aroma as it warms and a little caramel aroma and flavor as well. it is a little sticky on the lips and has a dry hop aftertaste along with coffee and chocolate.
