3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours coffee black almost, with a sudsy tan head. Aromas of faint roasted chocolate malts and some coffee/nuttiness I’m also detecting. Decent bock that I’ve had before but even though I figured I had rated it, but Anchor tends to always put out solid beers but not beers I could write home about.

Excelente bock americana, da tradicional cervejaria californiana Anchor , uma das melhores do estilo, maltes em destaque, notas de caramelo e tostado presentes em equilíbrio.

Bottle. Pours dark brown almost black. medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, plums and other dark fruits, nuts. Medium sweet taste. Medium body, light creamy texture, light bitter and bubbly palate that finishes a bit sticky. Overall it is ok not my favorite style but represents well.

I’ve never seen such a dark Bock. Chocolate mixed with maltiness & some hop aroma. Love me some anchor, but didn’t get this beer at all.

(7/2012) Bottle. Darkish. Malty, bit chocolate nose. Some spices, herbs. Body is a bit thin, but well drinkable. Ok beer, but a bit thin for a bock though. And dark.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle. Walnut-black opaque pour, big frothy head, good lacing. Brown head as well. Spicy, bready malty aroma, slight alcohol. Balanced taste profile, very complex for the style, a little of everything. Very well made, and about as good as it gets for the style.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is about as good as bock beers get. Sweet, but not cloying. Malty, but balanced nicely with understated hopping. Perfect mouthfeel.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle from Wilbur’s. Dark brown with a big light brown head that slowly diminishes and leaves patchy lacing. Malty aroma with chocolate, nuts, light roast, wheat bread and sweet caramel. Medium body with a creamy smooth feel and soft carbonation. Rich, malty, fairly sweet flavor that is similar to the aroma with dark fruits. Finishes sweet and creamy. Interesting brew, first dunkler bock rated.
