Nose has a molasses like sweetness, big malt aroma, hints of hops and a bit of chocolate to this old schnozzle, start is somewhat sweet with a good grain presence, the top moderate in feel. Finish is lightly acidic, the hops pleasant in the spiciness, very dry aftertaste, a throwback to the old Bock’s like Pabst. TChrome (1303), Bedford, Texas, USA

Aroma is malty, spicy and just a little dusty. Flavor is quite nice with a nice, rich chocolate maltiness and a very nice complex spiciness. Just a touch of wheat flavor as well. Mouthfeel is rich and creamy. I must admit to being a fan of this beer as it is my second sixer. Kodos (200), USA

Aroma of caramel with notes of cardboard. Started off with a very chilled sample, yet lovely carmel flavorings still leaked out. Crisp caramel throughout the session with a burnt finish and balanced sweetness. Very impressed with this latest selection from Anchor. DrBeer (777), Danderyd Stockholm, Sweden

Dark brown color. Lasting creamy head. Coffee, caramel and chocolate in the aroma. Malty flavor with chocolate, blackcurrant (Cascade hops?), roasted malt, grapes and laurel. Hints of coffee. Medium bodied. Not a bock beer like German or Dutch bocks I’ve tasted. Nevertheless a fine and tasty beer. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA

Finally found this elusive brew from Anchor - one of the only ones I am missing. Very dark brown - almost black pour with a decent sized mocha colored head. Pleasant wort-like aroma with some dates and raisin notes. Good, solid rib-sticking bock flavor with brief hints of licorice, raisins, baked brown bread and a brief hint of chocolate. Thickish mouthfeel for a bock Solid, as expected.
