Sep 17, 2009 Dark translucent brown. Aroma is a bit nutty with some caramel, malt and sweetness. Rich and full of chocolate malts, caramel and some fruit. A little thinner and drier than I expected, but pretty good.

Mar 1, 2007 Flowery aroma and malty aroma. ? with halogen it’s a ruby brown color; beige head that laces. Starts sweet - but dark fruit more than malt. A bit thin. A burst of spice, but only for a moment. There is a chocolate character, and also a hint of underlying sour. Finishes with some Guiness toasted malt balanced with hop. The lasting impact is mild bitter. It is really good stuff.

Oct 12, 2006 Very dark ruby black pour, beige head. Burnt coffee, malty aroma, flavor follows with added cocoa and sweet caramel, toffee. A nicely complex brew, seems like a dark lager with stout characteristics.

Apr 10, 2007 Bottle. Pour is a dark deep red with a quickly diminishing head that reduces to a thin ring of tan cream. Aroma is almost musty, with caramel sweetness accompanied by some smoke and moss. The flavor is very mild up front, with only the caramel malts, but the finish is quite smokey, to the point this beer could almost be considered a smoked. I detect some fruit as well. Dark fruits, like prunes. The carbonation is sharp, maybe a touch too sharp. Overall a quality brew that is easy to drink.

Aug 22, 2005 Bottle. Mahogony color with a nice beige head. Caramel aroma with some fruitiness and light roastiness. Lighter bodied than expected, but makes it more drinkable. Roasty flavor with some background chocolate and dark fruit. Nice lingering coffee flavors.

Jun 5, 2009 Bottle. Very dark brown with a beige foam. Aromas are earthy light roast malts with lots of herbal notes. Winter berry fruits with dark chocolate. Flavours are sweet toffee and chocolate malts with gritty coffee. Smoky with raisins and berries. Good.

Jun 21, 2005 Dark brown, moderate head. . Clean crisp aroma, with note od walnuts and a hint burnt toast. Nice flavors of malt, with a nutty, burnt toast note - in a very restrained way. Extremely smooth. Not oever the top, but extremely well made.
